The Junior Lawyer will contribute to the activities of the Litigation Department and the various projects implemented by the Legal Agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in new and on-going litigation cases, through drafting legal briefs and submissions, conducting legal research, attending meetings and interviews with clients, preparing case documents and files,
- Assist in representing litigation clients in court hearings and conduct the necessary visits to the courts’ registries and other public authorities;
- Ensure appropriate case management, regular follow-ups and reviews of litigation cases and efficient coordination with other lawyers, legal assistants and partners,
- Maintain accurate records and databases related to litigation cases,
- Assist in elaborating communication strategies for public interest litigation cases.
- Assist in preparing the Litigation department’s policies, protocols, procedures and templates,
- Assist and contribute to the publication of analytical media articles and research studies,
- Assist in training activities and the activities of The Legal Agenda’s Judicial Observatory,
- Any other tasks requested by the Head of Department and Executive Director.
Relevant qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Lebanese law;
- Affiliation to the Bar Association in Beirut or Tripoli,
- Previous interest or experience in human rights issues and public interest litigation,
- High-level proficiency in Arabic (reading, writing and speaking).
- Knowledge of French and ability to conduct legal research in French is a must. Knowledge of English is highly desirable.
- Excellent typing and computer skills and knowledge of word processing (e.g. Microsoft Word). Good knowledge of data processing (e.g. Excel) is highly desirable.
