Environmental specialist

These activities include skills building trainings for beneficiaries on diverse topicsbased on the needs of the participants. The trainer/consultant is required to coordinate with the project manager to combine the needs with the training’s material.

Areas of Responsibility:

The Environmental specialist is required to support the trainees in acquiring best practices and executing these in the field.

Job Responsibility:

The Environmental specialist is expected to deliver the following:

• Finding creative design solutions to pressing environmental problems, requiring a good deal of creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Helping the trainees with design technology for waste management.
• Improving environmental conservation management, including recycling, public health, and water and air pollution.
• Identifying critical development areas such as renewable energy, climate change, and food and water security.
• Ensuring projects design compliance with environmental and health regulations.
• Introducing the use of specialized equipment to test soil and water.
• Improving waste management system design.
• Advising on reclamation and disposal of air, water and land.
• Evaluating current systems and design innovative ways to improve or replace the existing systems or processes.
• Introducing reports for environmental-related complaints.
• Developing guidelines for the disposal of hazardous materials.
• Assessing and identifying potential environmental and social impacts of any project with key measurable indicators.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

1. BA in related field.
2. Minimum of three years’ in relevant experience.
3. Problem-solving skills
4. Interpersonal skills, as you will be working with different entities for the common good of the community.
5. Strong engineering background.
6. Planning and organization skills.
7. A general interest in the environment and the desire to help make it better.
8. Experience in, solid waste treatment, waste law, environmental protection, landfill Reclamation or related to Solid Waste Management.

Deliverables

The provider of services shall be responsible for the following deliverables.

• Training Syllabus and timetable
• Materials used throughout the workshop and training curriculum.
• Training logistics (attendance sheet, record keeping…).
• Total cost including number of hours and/or days + cost per hours and/or day.
• Appraisal by the end of the training with further recommendations.

Reporting

The Environmental specialist shall report to the project manager.
