The MAKANI Project Case Study – Highlighting businesses supported by Business Coaching and Financial Support

Description

With the support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), Oxfam in Lebanon together with its partners Tripoli Entrepreneurs Club (TEC), SHIFT, Industrio, and Centro per la Cooperazione Internazionale (CCI) are in the process of implementing a three-year project titled “MAKANI, MY PLACE. Economic development, decent work and social inclusion in Tripoli, Lebanon”.

The project aims to promote economic empowerment in Tripoli, Lebanon through strengthening a conducive business ecosystem inclusive of women and youth. In doing so, the action will facilitate women’s access to the labor market, and more broadly promote economic growth in Lebanon.

Oxfam is supporting existing MSMEs and entrepreneurs in Tripoli, Lebanon by:

• Strengthening the sustainability and competitiveness of youth-led start-ups with a high potential for inclusive job creation and social innovation in Tripoli, Lebanon.
• Providing tailored business coaching for existing MSMEs to help them overcome contemporary challenges by developing short-term and long-term growth plans for the enterprises.
• Providing seed funding for start-ups as well as grants for MSMEs to help them with the implementation of the growth plan they have developed.

Objective

Oxfam is looking to produce one short video of a maximum of 2 minutes that should highlight the impact of the project focusing on the financial support to cover installation of solar panels to increase production capacity. The videographer will be also asked to take at least 10 high resolution photographs of each participating businesses

Format

The video will feature 5 business owners introducing their ventures and talking about the impact of the support provided under MAKANI to install solar panels. The video will also feature B-Roll and the final version will be subtitled.

Audience

This video is intended to show the impact of the project to the following audience: donors, partners, Oxfam affiliates, actors in the business and economic development sector, MSMEs, start-ups, businesses, local communities, and the general public interested in economic development, decent work, and social inclusion.

Job Description

The consultant will:

Film and produce one short video featuring 5 businesses with the aim of highlighting the impact of purchased/installed solar panels as part of the support provided. The consultant is expected to:

• Develop a comprehensive action plan and timeline for production in collaboration with Oxfam
• Develop the concept and the script in collaboration with Oxfam
• Shoot the video in the specified area where the businesses are located in Tripoli
• Provide at least 10 high resolution photographs of each businesses and provide Oxfam with all the photos
• Provide Oxfam with A-Roll and B-Roll material
• Edit and produce the video (first draft, and additional versions based on provided comments)
• Follow Oxfam and donor's guidelines (which will be made available by Oxfam)
• Provide English subtitles to the final version of the video (subtitles to be reviewed and approved by Oxfam)

Oxfam will:

• Provide a list of potential businesses to be covered and their locations
• Make sure that written consent is obtained
• Support in developing the script and key messages
• Approve the action plan and timeline
• Provide rounds of feedback and approve the final video and the subtitles once the video is finalized

Qualifications

• Availability to start by first week of February 2023 and to do the shooting in Tripoli within a total of 1-2 shooting days
• Skills and experience in videography, photography, and editing videos.
• Experience in ideation and content creation (for photography and videography)
• Familiarity with the Start-up and Business Development Scene in Lebanon
• Previous experience working with I/NGOs in Lebanon
• Working languages: English and Arabic
• Excellent coordination and communication skills, flexible attitude, and respect for deadlines

Timeline:

First draft due by February 10, 2023

Final draft due by Wednesday February 16, 2023

*Detailed timeline to be agreed upon with the consultant. Duration is from end of January to end of February the latest.

*All businesses are located in Tripoli in close distance from each other. We expect one or two shooting days maximum in total.

Interested consultants should present their CVs, links to previous similar/relevant work such as samples of videos, a brief workplan, and a financial proposal by the deadline of 25 January, 2023 to lebanonprocurement@oxfam.org.uk
