SUFA Project Volunteer “Field engineer/architect”

 

  1. Recruitment context

The GIZ SUFA project is looking for a volunteer to support the project operations in Lebanon. The volunteer will ensure support in the day-to-day project implementation of SUFA for the period from April till September 2023.

Sustainable Facility Management in Public Schools (SUFA) is a GIZ project under the education portfolio of the German-Lebanese Cooperation. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), the initiative aims at supporting Lebanese public schools. The project employs a holistic approach to the creation of inspiring spaces for learning at public school through the creation of:

  • Outdoor & Green Spaces Enhancements
  • Sustainable Facilities Management
  • Environmental Footprint Reduction Measures & Awareness
  • Technology Enablement & Provision of resources for
    E-Learning
  • Healthy Nutrition

 

The volunteer will be under the guidance and orientation of SUFA project and component project managers. The volunteer ensures a culture of communication and cooperation, contributing actively to the operations of GIZ SUFA. The volunteer will receive an action plan and regular feedbacks.

  1. Required Qualifications, Competencies and Knowledge
  • University degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction site management or related fields;
  • Fully computer-literate with excellent skills in Microsoft 365 and database management;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage data, analyze, quality assure and communicate them;
  • Previous experience in construction site visits is required;
  • Previous experience in renewable energy components is a plus;
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in Arabic;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

 

  1. Other Qualifications
  • Curious, tenacious and with attention to detail;
  • Ability to think and work independently;
  • Knowledge of French is a plus;
  • Previous experience in digital inventory management is a plus;
  • Constructive and positive attitude.

 

  1. Key accountabilities

The volunteer will assist mainly in the project’s overall field visits and management of project’s data.

Field visits, coordination, and documentation

  • Assisting, supporting, and participating in the school visits.
  • Assisting in monitoring the quality of works of the construction sites.
  • Drafting construction site records and reports, minutes of meetings, taking pictures, etc.
  • Reviewing existing documents and/or stakeholders files.
  • Conducting logistical tasks related to field trips, technical meetings, and team events.
  • Supporting in preparation of technical meetings

Data analytics and research support

  • Supporting in data collection with high-frequency checks.
  • Conducting a thorough literature search of decentralized renewal energy interventions needed for the evaluation and scaling up of the project.
  • Assisting in the cleaning, processing and analysis of the data collected for the impact evaluation.
