Social Worker - Case Manager / Qaa

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Properly assess and refer people in need of mental health support/treatment to specialized services
  • Provide case-management to people accessing and enrolled in mental health (MH)
  • Provide appropriate psycho-social support to the persons enrolled in the project.
  • Coordinate with the psychotherapist for the implementation of all MH  interventions and activities.
  • Provide awareness sessions to the persons in the waiting areas.
  • Organize and implement community-based psycho-social support activities including support groups
  • Raise awareness to the PHCCs staff about MHPSS.
  • Build the capacities of PHCC staff, facilitate the integration of MH into primary health care.

 

Main responsibilities and activities of the Case Manager can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.

 

Main activities:

 

  1. Provide case-management in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Assess the needs of people coming to or referred to the PHCC
  • If necessary, refer people in need of psychiatric intervention to MdM specialised center in Baalback; and refer anyone else in need of other services, including GBV, Child protection etc.to appropriate services.
  • When needed, work directly with the psychotherapist to develop individualized intervention plans and the best care plan.
  • Participate to case discussions with the  psychotherapist  and the supervisor with technical support from the MH coordination team.
  • Provide proper case-management and regular follow-up for the people enrolled in the project.
  • Provide psycho-social support, including home-visits and psychoeducation to people enrolled in the project and their families
  • Commit to regular clinical documentation of all individual and other MH activities.

 

  1. Participate in mental health  activities
  • Participate in updating the service mapping of actors available in the area;
  • Refer people when needed, utilizing the appropriate referral mechanism to link with PHC or other organizations
  • Coordinate with PHC, hospital and any other relevant stakeholder
  • Design, organize and co-facilitate support groups in the community on a monthly basis (of various nationalities, genders and ages)

 

  1. Awareness raising about mental health
  • Participate in the preparation and provide awareness sessions about MH for PHCC staff Organize and facilitate awareness sessions at the PHC level for the people in the waiting areas
  • When requested and in collaboration with the community outreach supervisor, participate to awareness sessions in informal tented settlements/other shelters/streets to support Community outreach volunteers
  • Advocate on all MH related issues and/or concerns through participation in events organized by MdM,  and other partners.

 

  1. Reporting and meetings
  • Report on mental health activities and data collection, respecting deadlines
  • Participate in internal meetings and individual meetings.
  • When required participate in external meetings with key actors, NGOs/INGOs, and hospital.
  • When required, participate in network/coordination and case discussion meetings concerning mental health.

 

  1. Build the capacities of PHCC staff, facilitate the integration of MH in primary health care
  • Act as the PHCC focal point for matters related to MH integration
  • Support the PHCC staff in the safe identification and management of MH cases
  • Provide sensitization sessions for the PHCC staff on MH topics
  • Provide on the job coaching, supervision and shadowing for the PHCC staff trained on MHGap
  • Facilitate community of practice and case discussion sessions in the PHCC to discuss MH case between PHCC staff, and between PHCC staff and the MHPSS team.
  • Support the PHCC staff in safely referring persons utilizing the appropriate referral mechanism in place

Requested Competence/Skills/Profile

 

  • University degree in Social Work required.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in NGO work.
  • Experience working within the field of Mental Health will be valued.
  • Previous training on MHGAP is preferred
  • Belief in a comprehensive and holistic approach towards positive mental health.
  • Arabic and English languages are mandatory.
  • Excellence in organizing, planning and prioritizing tasks.
  • Ability to identify strengths and weakness and in proposing shared solutions for the continuous improvement of providing quality services.
  • Ability to work daily in Al Qaa
  • Strong ability to observe, analyse, report and take initiative.
  • Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently.
  • Clear commitment to the project thematic.
  • Ability to communicate any technical or non-technical topic with clarity and to share any important project information with the team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word and Excel
  • Ability to self-reflect on your work, to recognize what needs improvement and to propose solutions

 

This position is a full-time position based in Al Qaa.
