IT Assistant (To join ASAP)

Main Taks and Responsibilities

  • Ensures programme compliance with MAG’s Data Protection Minimum Standards;
  • Installs computer software following MAG IT policy
  • Escalates any identified risks to the senior management team
  • Investigates user problems, determine their source and determine possible solutions;
  • Installs, configures, and maintains PCs, networks, ethernet networks, network cabling, and printers, scanners and other related equipment or devices;
  • Performs and/or oversees software and application installation, and upgrades;
  • Implements network security protocols following HQ guidance;
  • Troubleshoots networks and systems to identify and correct malfunctions;
  • Instructs system users on operating systems and other standard MAG applications;
  • Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability;
  • Develops operating procedures that optimize network availability;
  • Maintains IT inventory records and manages the IT assets register;
  • Travels to MAG’s bases including accommodation apartments and guesthouses when required to provide IT maintenance, training and support to users;
  • Participate in Support Services, IT and management meetings as required;
  • Maintain and monitoring of the Network systems of the offices and dealing with Internet Service Providers for the connectivity issues.
  • Assists in the IT equipment purchasing and maintaining. Checking and summarizing the condition of Laptops and other equipment in accordance with depreciation time limit.
  • Recording the software license keys such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office and other applications.
  • Frequent visits to field offices and support with IT related matters.
  • Conducts any other IT related tasks assigned by line manager and Head of Support Services   

Additional Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintenance of radio equipment including VHF/HF radio, repeaters and hand-held
  • Keep records, assist in inventory and controls
  • Fill out detailed reports of radio equipment services that have been performed.

SPECIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

Essential Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, ICT or other relevant subject;
  • Minimum of 3 years of IT management experience;
  • Experience in managing IT hardware, software, networks, policies

Skills and Knowledge

  • Self-Organized, team player with an ability to work with limited supervision;
  • Good literacy, numeracy and general IT skills (e.g. Word/Excel);
  • Good in written and spoken English;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written;
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel;
  • Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software;
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems;
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications;
  • Solid Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications (including Office 365)
  • Understanding of networking technologies
  • Able to identify IT risks

GENERAL

All MAG staff is expected to undertake the following general duties:

  • Work as part of a team and liaise with other departments to ensure effective communications across the organization.
  • Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all MAG policies and procedures and Safeguarding framework.
  • Ensure confidentiality of information as required by MAG policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required.
  • Aware of gender mainstreaming and ready to participate in gender awareness courses/training
  • Able to work in a mixed team
  • Responsible for his/her own continuing training to develop his/her skills
  • Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.
