CARE established its presence in Lebanon in 2006 and has been responding to the Syrian Crisis since late 2012. Among CARE’s key imperatives is putting people it serves first through implementing cutting edge programming in areas it operates. CARE currently carries out activities in Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Akkar, North Lebanon, South Lebanon, and the Beqaa Valley. CARE implements both emergency and development projects contributing to livelihood, food security, protection, gender, shelter, and water, sanitation and hygiene. It targets the most vulnerable people and populations, both host communities and refugees. Over the course of 7 years, it has supported over than half a million beneficiaries.
In Lebanon, CARE’s program strategy for the upcoming years will focus on strengthening and expanding its emergency response and capacity to provide basic assistance services while pursuing development projects in areas of food security and livelihood support, gender and protection. CARE intends to maintain its presence in all areas of Lebanon.
CARE Lebanon has scaled up rapidly over the past few years and today it has about 90 staff members, with more than 15 different local/international partner organizations. 90% of the team is composed of national staff, with a symbolic number of international members.

3. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Duties:
- Assist in the identification, assessment, and response to protection needs of individuals and communities in the field.
- Provide support and referrals to individuals who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing harm, including survivors of gender-based violence, children at risk, and persons with disabilities.
- Support community-based protection initiatives, including raising awareness about protection issues and promoting community-led protection mechanisms.
- Conduct outreach activities in the community to identify protection concerns and engage with vulnerable individuals.
- Collect and report on data related to protection concerns and activities in the field.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective delivery of protection activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity of individuals at all times.

4. Qualifications / special skills or knowledge
a. Skills & knowledge:
- Experience working in a protection-related field, such as gender-based violence prevention and response, child protection, or refugee and displacement settings.
- Knowledge of international humanitarian and human rights law
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with community members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner.
b. Experience:
At least 0-1 years of relevant experience, especially at NGOs, academic organizations, standard-setting bodies, public agencies focused on humanitarian work, social sciences, and community engagement.
c. Academic background:
High school diploma or equivalent, such as a junior college degree.
- Languages: English and/ or Arabic are the working language of CARE International.
- of other languages is an asset.
5. Other contract elements
CARE offers internship and volunteer opportunities for up to 4 months contract for an allowance at USD $25 for meals and transportation and for a limit of 16 days a month.
