Organizational background and mission brief
SHiFT is a social innovation hub leading the transformation of post-conflict and/or marginalized zones towards peaceful and prosperous communities. It brings people together and bridges differences through building capacities, raising awareness, creating opportunities, promoting success models and mentoring.
SHiFT has 4 main programs that especially target persons from post-conflict/vulnerable areas.
Tatweer program: supporting businesses to grow, by providing business development support and in-kind grants to existing and new nano, micro and small businesses located in Tripoli, in addition to restoring access to economic opportunities to the affected NMSMEs following the Beirut blast Beirut.
Tamteen program: supporting the self-development of individuals to increase their chances of finding employment by providing training, coaching, mentoring and job placement services.
Tasaloh program: facilitating/incubating peace and reconciliation initiatives. SHiFT ’s community engagement and peacebuilding component incubates and hosts several initiatives or committees that work for social cohesion and reconciliation in the area.
Tadamon program: Providing Mental Health support and addressing the protection needs of at-risk individuals through implementing different Community-Based Psycho-Social Support (CBPSS) activities
As part of the Tatweer program, SHiFT is currently implementing the Shabake 2 project which purpose is to empower mission-driven, technically-sound and locally rooted NGOs and ensure that they stand greater chances to withstand the crisis, access greater financial autonomy and contribute to the recovery of Lebanon.
SHiFT will also be participating in the Shabake 2 project as a recipient of capacity building support services, therefore is seeking local consultants.
Job Brief
SHiFT is seeking a local consultant with experience of providing a range of Entrepreneurial training sessions (i.e. most important investment mistakes by small business owners, financial planning tools and calculation of production costs; estimating sources of incomes, calculating revenues and calculate depreciation and draw up a replacement plan; determine the pricing elements of products, estimate sales and calculate the break-even point; using accounting tools, analyzing data and developing a financial plan) for small business owners in Beirut, Lebanon.
The selected consultant will work closely with the small business owners, women, and youth, to train them on the topics mentioned above and create a healthy training environment while using interactive training approaches and provide support as necessary. Furthermore, the SHiFT project team will work in close cooperation with the selected trainer in order to ensure that training is adequately delivered.
Main responsibilities
- Develop a clear outline of sessions and timeline of training.
- Coordinate with the SHiFT project team for the schedule.
Deliver All related documents to Shift.
- Provide SHiFT project team with regular feedback and updates on the training sessions.
- Provision of onsite 14 days training over the period of one month (2 rounds of 7 training days each; 27 business owners/round).
- The consultant has to share the training curriculum that will be used to deliver the training sessions in both Arabic and English.
- Agree with SHiFT on the training approach and training curriculum.
- Coordinate with SHiFT on a weekly basis to attract outreach/targets in the area of project implementation.
- Develop pre and post-tests to assess the capabilities of the beneficiaries and to monitor their progress during training sessions.
- Monitor attendance of beneficiaries and report any issues to SHiFT ’s coordinator.
- Prepare a final report
Minimum Qualification and experience
- 3 to 4 years of experience in delivering similar training.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering Entrepreneurial training sessions.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
- Bachelor University Degree in Business Administration/finance or any related field.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Arabic language (oral / written) mandatory
- Ability to communicate well in English
- Good ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

- Ability to work under pressure and ability to adapt to different situations

Time Frame/Duration
The total period of the consultancy is 6 months. The training consultant is expected to start delivering training sessions to cooperatives in beginning June 2023.
