Product Development & Production Optimization expert - Hachem Dairy - Food System Challenge

Scope of work and Deliverables

The Consultant is expected to fulfill the following in addition to any other task required:

  1. Production Flow Assessment:
    • Conduct a thorough assessment of the company's production processes, workflow, and efficiency.
    • Identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement in the production flow to optimize productivity and reduce waste.
  2. Facility Compliance Review:
    • Evaluate the facility's current infrastructure and practices to ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
    • Identify any gaps or deficiencies in the facility's layout, equipment, and sanitation practices that need improvement.
  3. Food Safety Recommendations:
    • Provide recommendations and guidelines to enhance food safety measures, including proper handling, storage, and hygiene protocols.
    • Suggest strategies for preventing contamination and maintaining product quality throughout the production process.
  4. Labeling Compliance for Nutritional Facts:
    • Review the company's product labels and packaging to ensure compliance with nutritional labeling regulations.
    • Provide recommendations to accurately present nutritional facts and meet regulatory requirements.
  5. Cost Optimization and Resource Management:
    • Analyze production costs and resource utilization to identify opportunities for cost optimization and resource efficiency.
    • Suggest strategies for improving resource management and reducing production expenses.
  6. Training and Knowledge Transfer:
    • Conduct training sessions for production staff on recommended practices for production optimization and food safety compliance.
    • Facilitate knowledge transfer to empower the company's team in sustaining improvements beyond the consultant's intervention.

Deliverables:

  1. Production Flow Assessment Report:
    • A comprehensive report summarizing the assessment of the company's production flow, identifying improvement opportunities, and recommending optimization strategies.
  2. Facility Compliance Review Report:
    • Evaluation report outlining the facility's compliance with food safety standards and regulations, along with recommendations for enhancements.
  3. Food Safety Recommendations Document:
    • A document providing detailed food safety recommendations and guidelines to maintain product quality and prevent contamination.
  4. Labeling Compliance Assessment:
    • Evaluation of product labels for compliance with nutritional facts regulations, along with recommendations for accurate and compliant labeling.
  5. Cost Optimization and Resource Management Strategies:
    • Strategies and suggestions for optimizing production costs and improving resource management within the company.
  6. Training Materials and Sessions:
    • Preparation and delivery of training materials and sessions to educate the production staff on recommended practices for production optimization and food safety compliance.

The consultant will provide these deliverables within the specified intervention period after working closely with the company to enhance production efficiency, food safety compliance, and labeling accuracy.

As part of the program’s Monitoring and Evaluation (ME&L) processes, the consultant is required to:

  • Deliver a briefing report to the program’s team.
  • Attending check-ins short meetings, if needed and required by the program’s team
  • Attending MEL induction meeting before the beginning of the session if requested by the program’s team
  • Conducting pre-post assessment, feedback and attendance as requested by the program team

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, MSc Degree in food processing, food technology, quality control, food safety, food science, environmental Health, hospitality management, and any other relevant field.  
  • At least 15 years of experience in such projects.
  • Excellent communications and report writing skills.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic

How to Apply

The selected Consultant is expected to start his/her activities at the soonest after selection; the exact timeline and effective working days are to be set based on both the company’s and the Consultant’s availability not exceeding the end of November 2023. The total budget allocated for the intervention is within the range of USD 250/man-day.

Candidates should submit the following documents:

  • Technical (maximum two pages) describing the methodology to conduct the work based on the content suggested in section: “Scope of Work, Outputs, and Deliverables” elaborating it further.
  • Profile and project references (maximum two pages): A brief explanation of the consultant(s) background should be submitted (CVs shall be included as annex) along with project references on the topic.
  • Financial Proposal describing the expected renumeration and the proposed timeline and Days of intervention.

General Conditions: This is a Request for Proposal only. Issuance of this RFQ does not in any way obligate Berytech, the Food System Challenge Project, or WFP to make an award or pay for costs incurred by potential offerors in the preparation and submission of an offer.
