Climate Change Officer - Beirut

The Opportunity

The Climate Change Officer is a key role within the organization, responsible for leading and coordinating initiatives related to climate change adaptation, mitigation, and child rights governance.

This position requires a deep understanding of climate change issues, child rights governance frameworks, as well as the ability to develop and implement strategies that promote the integration of climate change in child rights, education, protection, and other policies and programs.

This role will be leading on the coordination between CRG, WASH, Shelter and construction team and other stakeholders in the implementation of cross-sectoral related Climate Change interventions.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Degree in Engineering field, social work, gender studies, international relations, human rights or development studies;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English;
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in program/project management and budget control, including experience working with implementing partners and grantees (experience in Adolescent programming is a plus);
  • Knowledge of the Human Rights and the Child Rights and Gender International Instruments. 
  • Experience in reporting;
  • Capacity to combine field and office work; and 
  • Experience in working with Civil Society Organizations and Climate change are of added value
  • Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
