WaSH Technician

Scope of the Job:

Water & Sanitation
Assess and identify WASH infrastructure needs

Supervise construction works

Supervise water trucking & desludging services.

Programme:

-Identify and assess water, sanitation and infrastructure needs in informal tented

settlements.

-Conduct various kinds of technical and non-technical WASH assessments on different

levels

-Prepare and develop Bill of Quantities (BoQ) for identified hard WASH needs as per the

technical assessments for sites that show high vulnerability and for people with special

needs

-Prepare and develop sites portfolio following technical assessment (site layout, existing

infrastructure, photos, population details…)

-Ensure high-quality installation and compliance with technical specifications of

construction works through the supervision of Contractors/Suppliers labors.

-Ensure water trucking & desludging activities are being implemented as per program

requirements

-Facilitate and supervise the work of daily laborers of Contractors/Suppliers.

-Communicate with Contractors/Suppliers on a daily basis to coordinate construction works

and follow-up on progress.

-Train WASH committees to enable them to conduct basic maintenance works (community

empowerment).

-Perform other tasks related to water and sanitation as requested by the WASH Officer,

and provide support to other WASH teams.

Reporting:

Provide regular reports to the Officer on project implementation progress (indicators, achievement…)

Logistics & other operational departments:
-Ensure coordination and collaboration with other departments in WASH in particular the Hygiene promotion and Services teams.
-Supervise, & participate in loading items from warehouse to ensure the availability of all items during implementation.
-Hygiene promotion: Liaise with the hygiene promotion team, refer WASH related diseases and necessary HP activities in ITSs
-Water trucking & Desludging: Liaise with services team for the planning and implementation of water trucking & desludging activities and supervise as necessary.
- Logistics: Under the supervision of the WASH Officer, perform quality checks of items received in the warehouse or on field (water tanks, frames, latrines and other WASH facilities) and liaise with logistic as needed.
-Respond to received referrals and submit referrals via the official NABAD channel

Knowledge/ Skills Required:

-Fluent in English and Arabic (verbal and written)

-Previous experience managing construction works several sites simultaneously

-Previous experience in conducting assessments

-Previous experience in a similar role is an added value
