NURSING TEAM SUPERVISOR

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / أطباء بلا حدود  is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people in 70 countries who are affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation and our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of neutrality and impartiality.

We offer basic healthcare, perform surgery, fight epidemics, rehabilitate and run hospitals and clinics, carry out vaccination campaigns, operate nutrition centers, and provide mental healthcare. Our activities include the treatment of injuries and disease, maternal care and the provision of humanitarian aid. Where necessary, we set up sanitation systems, supply safe drinking water, and distribute relief to assist survival.

Accountabilities

 
  • Organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, and assisting during consultations, outreach, daily rounds and other medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patient, also family and community when necessary.
  • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality. Knowing, promoting, implementing and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment.
  • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Carry out and/or supervise the end-user unit (decentralized pharmacy) and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.)in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness in collaboration with Pharmacy supervisor/manager.
  • Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service via pharmacy supervisor.
  • Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.
  • Respecting medical confidentiality at all time.
  • Sending material to be sterilized and recuperates it from sterilization
  • Analyse the medical data, nursing tracking sheet and referrals sheet together with MAM/PMR
  • Supervising and training of nurses, community health workers, and other related staff under his/her supervision; assisting on training medical team members ensuring teamwork and adherence to all appropriate protocols and procedures
 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

 
  • Assist with the implementation of PHCCs support program by organizing, informing and providing prescribed medications; follow-up on NCDs cases at referred PHCCs
  • Assist and support the team in relation to wound management and management of Diabetic foot infection.
  • Facilitate, support and supervise the sterilization team in conducting and implementing IPC measures according to MSF protocols in cleaning, disinfection and sterilization.
  • Support and supervise the implementation of the IPC measures and the compliance of the nursing team to MSF IPC protocols.
  • Support and supervise the clinic nursing team in providing efficient patient care.
  • Support and supervise the vaccination activities in terms of implementing the service and managing the stock following the MoPH and MSF guidelines.
  • Support the training for the nursing team in MSF clinic and in the pre-identified PHCCs.
  • Together with SV focal points in order to provide efficient care to sexual violence survivors
  • Collaborate with ERs of  hospitals at which MSF refers patients and  organizations for referrals based on mapping of services and patients’ health needs.
  • Work closely with Mental health team for MHPSS provision including psychiatric care
  • Collaborate with information education and communication and health promotion and social worker department for interpretation, case management,  referrals and community engaged activities. 
  • Monitors the referral process to partners i.e. imagery and labs, follows up on quality of services provided and regularly report on challenges.
  • Monitor and report to the MAM, PMR, PC of any relevant events, updates and patients’ experience feedbacks.
 

Experience

 

Essential 2 years of previous experience as Nurse.

Essential 1 year of previous experience in team supervision or equivalent of nursing supervisory experience within MSF

Desirable previous experience with survivors of violence / SV /GBV related programs, and/or with neglected/vulnerable population groups (refugees, migrant workers), Mental health and psychosocial support and NCD programs
