Protection Referral Support

INTERSOS is an International NGO that works to bring assistance to people in danger, victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Established in 1992 with support from the Italian Federation of Trade Unions, its actions are based on the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable and the unprotected.

INTERSOS identifies with the core values of CONCORD, the European Confederation of NGOs; it adheres to international codes of conduct for humanitarian organizations and the values and principles expressed within those codes. INTERSOS is recognized by the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the European Commission and the principal UN agencies; it is privileged to hold an advisory status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

INTERSOS is an independent association which, through its own humanitarian operators, intervenes to effectively answer the needs of people in serious crises situations, mainly in the world's poorest regions, who are suffering, deprived of rights, dignity and essentials goods. It maintains a flexible operating structure. The head office in Italy coordinates, supports and monitors the planned activities in the countries of intervention carried out by decentralized offices.

 

Job Title: Protection Referral Support
Reports to: MEAL & Reporting Officer
Duty Station: North Lebanon
Position Type: Full Time


Job Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the MEAL & Reporting Officer, the Protection Referral Support will be responsible for the management and coordination of referrals. He/she will also support the MEAL & Reporting Officer on the monitoring and cleaning data related to the Protection component. He/she should be the focal point for the Protection hotline. The Protection Referral Support is part of INTERSOS Protection Team, working on Protection activities, including but not limited to assessment, data collection, referrals of INTERSOS Protection Programme in North Lebanon, funded by UNHCR. The Protection Referral Focal Point will also work in close collaboration with team members of other departments, under the overall supervision of the MEAL & Reporting Officer.


Generic Duties:
The Protection Referral support will be directly in charge of:
- Managing external referrals coming from different actors/partners, validating them (checking if they fit into INTERSOS range of protection activities, selection criteria, area of intervention, etc.), then finally sharing them on the related spreadsheet.
- Managing referrals through RAIS platform, screening, validating and refer to external or internal actors based on the geographical area of intervention and services needed.
- Regularly update and share the service mapping in North and Akkar governorates; Liaise directly with UNHCR to coordinate referrals and manage RAIS platform.
- Managing internal referrals between different departments.
- Sending referrals to external actors/partners when needed.
- Answering the Protection Hotline.
- Sharing information on the available humanitarian services provided for the Syrian refugee population in the North region.
- Supporting the MEAL & Reporting Officer in Protection activities monitoring tools and extracting data related to protection surveys. - Ensuring referral tracking table is updated and responses are provided in the appropriate timeframe.
- Perform other related duties as identified by the supervisor when requested.


Education:
- University Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Studies or other related majors.


Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Professional Competencies:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience is required
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel) is required
- Experience in using KOBO and ArcGIS is desired
- Previous experience handling hotline is desirable
- Knowledge of the context in the North and of minimum Protection standards is a must (specifically Child Protection)
- Good analytical and reporting skills are required
- Previous work experience in humanitarian NGOs is desirable
