Context & Background

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.  

About ARYAF PROJECT

ARYAF serves Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises operating in food processing, local hospitality, tourism, the restaurant industry, eco-tourism, and Agri-tourism within west Bekaa, Zahle, and South Mount Lebanon.  

The program aims to empower sixty MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) to increase their sales volume, implement a business continuity plan, and provide training to their staff, including youth, women, and disabled individuals.

The program is funded by The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in partnership with Berytech, within the framework of Strengthening Agriculture, Local Communities and Small and Medium Enterprises project (ACE). 

Background

Dairy Dany is a small and medium enterprise (SME) that specializes in producing high-quality dairy products from cow and goat milk. Dairy Dany was established in 2013 and since then, it has been present in all outlets in the Chouf area, where it is well known for its delicious and fresh products. Dairy Dany offers a wide range of products, such as milk, laban, labneh, halloumi, ayran, and others. Dairy Dany is committed to delivering fresh and delicious dairy products to its customers, using traditional methods and natural ingredients.

However, Dairy Dany is facing the following challenges:

  • Fragmented customer and sales data: Dairy Dany may struggle with scattered customer information and sales records, making it difficult to effectively manage relationships, track orders, and generate invoices.
  • Limited data insights: Lack of centralized data and comprehensive reporting makes it difficult to track performance, analyze trends, and make informed business decisions.

The objectives of this intervention are:

  • Streamlining customer relationships and sales management: Improved customer data management, targeted marketing campaigns, and data-driven sales analysis can help Dairy Dany attract and retain customers.
  • Enhancing operational efficiency: Automated invoicing, inventory management, and reporting can save time, reduce errors, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Gaining data-driven insights: Comprehensive reporting and analytics capabilities can help Dairy Dany identify growth opportunities, optimize pricing and production, and make informed decisions about expansion and marketing.
  • Enhancing the SME’s financial literacy
Scope of Work

The consultancy will include a comprehensive evaluation of Dairy Dany’s existing financial systems, procedures, and operational practices. This assessment will involve a thorough analysis of financial data, including income, expenses, cash flow, and budgetary allocations. Based on these findings, detailed recommendations will be provided to improve financial management practices and fortify reporting mechanisms. Additionally, the consultancy will entail extensive research to identify and propose a suitable accounting software solution tailored to the enterprise's specific needs. Close collaboration with the management team will be initiated upon selection to implement and configure the chosen accounting software effectively. Moreover, the consultant will conduct specialized training sessions for Dairy Dany’s staff, ensuring their adeptness in utilizing the newly implemented software for efficient financial monitoring and reporting purposes.

Deliverables
  • Financial Assessment Report detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Accounting Software Recommendation Report, including the rationale for the chosen software.
  • Implemented and Configured Accounting Software.
  • Training materials and conducted sessions for staff members on software usage.
  • Capacity building sessions and related training materials covering the below points:
    • Financial Management Training: Equip SME owners and staff with core accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, cost control, and financial decision-making skills through a tailored training program.
    • Regulatory Compliance Training: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements, mitigating potential risks and upholding legal obligations.
    • Financial Reporting and Auditing Guidelines: Standardize financial reporting procedures for facilitating transparency and informed decision-making.
    • Proactive Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential financial risks associated with operations, enhancing profitability and financial sustainability.

  • A company profile highlighting relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Proven experience in financial consultancy.
  • Experience in implementing accounting software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A portfolio or samples of previous financial consultancy work

How to Apply

The selected consultant is expected to start as soon as possible after selection. The contract’s duration is 10 weeks .

Candidates should submit the following documents:

  • Technical (maximum two pages) describing the methodology to conduct the work based on the content suggested in the section: “Scope of Work, and Deliverables” elaborating it further.
  • Profile and project references (maximum two pages): A brief explanation of the consultant(s) background should be submitted (CVs shall be included as an annex) along with project references on the topic.
  • Financial Proposal describing the expected remuneration and the proposed period of the intervention divided per deliverable as listed above.

Documents and proposals must be sent to Procurement@berytech.org by February 8th, 2023, at the latest, with the subject: “Financial consultant- Dairy Dany- ARYAF.”
