KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Advocacy Governance Expert will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Analyzing existing policies and regulations to identify opportunities for advocacy or areas related to the project.
- Developing strategies for effective advocacy campaigns, considering the legal and regulatory framework, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Evaluating the governance structures and processes within the project to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Ensuring that advocacy plans adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, and advising on legal implications of proposed actions.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and relevant organizations, to advance advocacy goals and influence decision-making.
- Collaborating with policymakers and stakeholders to contribute to the development of new policies or the modification of existing ones in line with the project objectives.
- Providing training and support to internal teams or external partners to enhance their understanding of advocacy governance principles and best practices.
- Identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with advocacy efforts, including legal, reputational, or regulatory risks.
- Advising on ethical considerations related to advocacy efforts and governance practices, ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness.
REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTION
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Your knowledge, experience & skills:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as law, political science, public policy, international relations, governance or a related discipline. A Master’s is a plus.
- A Previous experience in developing and executing advocacy campaigns, preferably in Environment.
- Experience working on public policy issues, understanding the intersection of policy, governance, and advocacy.
- Strong understanding of legal frameworks, regulations, and compliance issues related to governance and advocacy.
- Proficiency in analyzing policies and regulations, as well as assessing their impact on governance structures.
Additional skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues to diverse audiences effectively.
- Experience in building and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and advocacy partners.
- Skills in planning, organizing, and managing advocacy campaigns or governance improvement projects.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
