Clinical Psychologist

General Purpose of the Position

Under the direct supervision of the Country MHPSS officer and project director, the Clinical Psychologist is responsible for utilizing standard assessment tools, providing structured clinical assessments, developing treatment plans with clear objectives, monitoring progress, offering clinical supervision, and leading trainings. They may also lead group support sessions and engage in outreach activities. The Clinical Psychologist monitors MHPSS implementation, assesses cases referred by JRS Teachers or Social Workers, and ensures coordination between the MHPSS and School Team to achieve case objectives.

Main Responsibilities of the Position

1.Sensitization and Capacity Building for JRS Staff

• Conduct sessions on Psychological First Aid;
• Conduct sessions on how to support persons in distress, children with behavioural challenges;
• Conduct sessions on self-care and stress managing;
• Conduct bimonthly Social Workers meeting and ongoing support;
• Develop PSS Programs addressing the changing needs of JRS Projects.

2.Diagnose and Treat Mental Health Cases

• Provide appropriate mental health support and/or treatment through individual counselling, PSS sessions, and psycho-education to all peoples in needs;
• Work directly with the Social Workers to develop individualized intervention plans following the case management model and follow-up with the schools;
• Coordinate with the Teachers and project director regarding all MHPSS challenges faced by the students;
• Participate in case discussion with the Country MHPSS officer regarding all the cases she/he is following with them;
• Coordinate closely with the Social Worker and the Teacher based on a fix case conference meeting to achieve the objective plan of the people we serve.

3.Outreaching Activities and Networking

• Conduct outreach activities in close coordination with JRS’s Social Workers and support the team to conduct MHPSS assessment at the field level;
• Build a network with MHPSS representatives to refer cases based on their needs to case management units or various types of therapy (speech therapy, psychomotor therapy, etc.);
• Receive referrals from the social worker, caregiver and education team to provide them sessions and follow-up based on a fixed schedule at JRS;
• Conduct field visits to the Schools, Social Center to provide MHPSS awareness sessions for the children or caregiver and to support the education team.

4.Staff Care for JRS Staff

• Coach Social Workers in their places of work;
• Collaborate with External Experts;
• Plan  workshops with External Experts for JRS staff.

5.Reporting and Documentation

• Report on weekly progress to the Country MHPSS Officer;
• Monitor the psychological progress of the case, review cases with the Country MHPSS Officer and refer cases to specialized services when required (speech therapy, psychomotor therapy, etc.);
• Participate in weekly meetings with the MHPSS Team, during which cases will be discussed and support and supervision will be provided by the Country MHPSS Officer;
• Monthly meeting with the education team;
• File documents in an organized and efficient manner to facilitate the review of cases;
• Ensure efficient data collection by filling in the MHPSS database daily (assessment form, follow-up form).

Qualifications, Skills, and Personal Attributes

• A Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology with a clear practicum path (at least 500 hours);
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
• Ability to develop rapport with the case;
• Excellent communication, problem solving, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
• Ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles concerning work;
• Ability to provide structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation;
• Ability to develop a consistent and acceptable treatment plan with clear objectives;
• Experience providing clinical supervision or leading trainings is a plus.
