Project Engineer

General Duties 

  • Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents for irrigation canals and agricultural roads.
  • Prepare design drawings, specifications, design bill of quantities and workplans for project implementation.
  • Oversee the contractor's work to ensure strict adherence to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction progress, quality of work, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports documenting construction activities, identified issues, and solutions implemented.
  • Manage and resolve any discrepancies or concerns arising during construction with the contractor and project stakeholders.
  • Process contractor invoices based on verified work quantities and ensured accurate documentation.Review designs to address any unforeseen site conditions or design modifications necessary.
  • Conduct or oversee material testing to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Maintain detailed construction records, including design and as built drawings, design and as built bill of quantities, inspection reports, material testing results, reports, before and after photos, completion certificates and other needed documents.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with the contractor, technical manager, engineering team, surveyors, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend regular project meetings, presenting progress reports and addressing any concerns.
  • Document and communicate any potential delays, cost variations, or safety hazards to project management.
  • Supervise the technical staff like the surveyor, skilled and unskilled workers.

 

  • Related Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering construction supervision, preferably on irrigation and/or rural infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality control practices for irrigation canals and agricultural roads.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D and others) is preferred.
  • Experience with construction management software for scheduling, cost control, and reporting is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction contract administration and management principles.
  • Proficient in construction drawings and specifications interpretation.
  • Experience in site inspection, documentation, and reporting.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to the project site as needed.
  • Driving license is a must.
  • Excepted to work under challenging circumstances, that requires a patient and calm attitude.
