Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The COO will manage daily operations, aligning them with the organization's mission and strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will work with senior management to drive efficiency, optimize processes, and promote a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:


1- Operations Leadership:

  • Develop and refine operational policies and procedures.
  • Oversee daily functions and departmental activities to ensure efficiency.
  • Oversee special projects from planning to completion.
  • Support the CEO and the Finance Manager in preparing the budgets.


2. Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to strategic planning and implementation.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and other Senior leaders to develop and execute the company’s strategic
  • plan, focusing on operational excellence and sustainable growth
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to department heads and operational teams, fostering a
  • culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

3. Project Management:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of projects and programs.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

4. Financial Management:

  • Support in preparing & managing, and monitor the annual budget, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Manage fundraising efforts and donor relationships.
  • Monitor and control operational expenses.

 5. Team Development:

  • Mentor and develop department heads.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
  • Implement training and professional development initiatives.

6. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain risk management strategies and policies related to all operations as well as every program and make sure the different programs can synergize in times of crisis.

7. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community leaders.
  • Represent the organization at public events and in media engagements.        

 

Work experience requirements:

  • 10 – 15 years of experience in a Senior management role, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in Operations management and strategic planning.
  • Strong commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Innovative, strategic thinker with a focus on results.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Active listening, adaptability, emotional intelligence, creativity, problem-solving.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work with external stakeholders from various backgrounds and be empathetic.
