Founded on January 8, 1993, by the Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA) of Quebec, Canada, UPA Développement International (UPA DI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the family farm as a model of sustainable agriculture. UPA DI concentrates its efforts on supporting democratic professional farmers' organizations (FOs), providing collective services essential to agricultural development, and fostering initiatives that structure the agri-food sector in the countries and regions where it operates.
