Position Title: Junior Assistant Engineer

Working Context
WeWorld-GVC has been working in Lebanon since 2006 and is now supporting vulnerable populations through emergency WASH, shelter, basic assistance interventions as well as Water Governance and Local Economic Development programs aiming at increasing the resilience of the concerned communities, in the Beqaa Valley and Akkar. Within the framework of the project “ANA KAMEN (Phase 2): inclusive and quality education in 8 public schools in the Governorate of Akkar” funded by AICS (The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation), targeting public schools in Wadi Khaled, Jabal Akroum, Joumeh, Machha, and Muhammara, WeWorld-GVC seeks to recruit a Junior Assistant Engineer.
Purpose of the Position:
The Junior Assistant Engineer will support WW-GVC in implementing rehabilitation projects focused on public schools. The primary responsibilities will involve conducting technical assessments, supporting feasibility studies for solar system installations, preparing technical drawings and BOQs, and overseeing public schools’ rehabilitation and solar system installation, according to MEHE SoPs and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Assessments:
Conduct technical assessments of public schools to identify infrastructure needs, areas for rehabilitation, and areas for implementing PWD facilities such as toilets, ramps, handrails, and energy system upgrades.
Feasibility Study Support:
Assist the external consultant in designing feasibility studies for the installation of solar systems and other technical interventions, ensuring alignment with the project’s objectives.
AutoCAD Drawing Adjustments:
Adjust and update AutoCAD drawings according to project requirements, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with regulations.
Bill of Quantities (BOQ) Preparation:
Prepare detailed BOQs for all infrastructure works, including rehabilitation and solar system installation, ensuring accurate material and cost estimation, taking into consideration the MEHE specifications and standards.
Supervision of Rehabilitation Works:
Supervise on-site rehabilitation activities in public schools or similar projects, ensuring compliance with designs, technical specifications, and safety standards.
Supervision of Solar System Installation:
Oversee the installation of solar systems in public schools, ensuring that installations are carried out according to the technical designs and operational plans.
Tendering Support:
Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tenders, ensuring transparency, technical completeness, and alignment with organizational policies.
Team Support:
Provide technical support to the project team as needed, including participating in meetings, reporting on progress, and assisting with other relevant project activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, preferably with experience in school rehabilitation projects and solar energy system installations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with BOQ preparation and tendering processes.
