Community mobilizer

  1. Community Engagement:
  • Act as the main point of contact between the project team and the IDP communities in the shelters.
  • Mobilize and organize communities to participate in WASH-related activities such as shelter cleaning and chlorination supervision.
  • Engage with community members to identify local volunteers who can support the routine supervision of water treatment activities and cleaning efforts in shelters.
  • Ensure the involvement of both men and women in WASH activities, promoting gender-sensitive approaches.
  1. Awareness Raising and Hygiene Promotion:
  • Conduct hygiene promotion sessions to raise awareness on good hygiene practices, safe water handling, and sanitation practices.
  • Support the distribution of hygiene kits, menstrual hygiene kits, and baby and incontinence kits to beneficiaries.
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of sensitization materials related to hygiene promotion.
  • Conduct sessions on menstrual hygiene management (MHM), especially targeting women and girls.
  1. Support to Shelter Maintenance:
  • Coordinate with recruited cleaners, identified by school directors or community leaders, to ensure timely cleaning and disinfection of shelter spaces.
  • Ensure community members are aware of and comply with sanitation standards for toilet, shower, and handwashing facilities.
  • Assist in the reporting of any infrastructural needs or repairs required to maintain the functionality of WASH facilities in shelters.
  1. Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Provide regular feedback to the WASH Officer and Project Coordinator regarding community engagement, challenges faced, and any emerging needs.
  • Monitor the delivery and functionality of WASH services such as water trucking, sanitation facilities, and desludging services.
  • Report any gaps or issues in the delivery of WASH services, ensuring accountability and transparency in the response.
