The Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon” aims to devise a national roadmap toward establishing solid foundations from which to facilitate the development of a comprehensive SEL policy for Lebanon; policies in SEL will ensure a systematic integration and institutionalization of an SEL culture into both formal and non-formal educational system.
World Learning has an immediate vacancy for its Beirut-based “Program Officer” for the Porticus-funded “Towards a Social and Emotional Learning Policy for Children in Lebanon”. This position is for a Lebanese national.
Scope and Responsibilities
The “Program Officer” will report to the Project Manager and collaborate closely with the Operations team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, schedule, and arrange capacity-building activities (meetings, workshops, communities of practice, focus groups, field visits, etc.) for program beneficiaries.
- Facilitate the implementation of capacity-building activities while assisting and supporting programmatic activities at the field level.
- Prepare a range of documents including, but not limited to, agenda, minutes of meetings, schedule, background paper, briefs, fact sheets and other relevant materials.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure that purchase requests, such as venue rental, equipment, and printed materials, are in order while assisting in drafting program purchase requests and other relevant program materials.
- Create and maintain different program-related databases and progress documents.
- Collect data sheets as required by the M&E Team.
- Manage data (data entry, cleaning, and verification) and run necessary analyses to contribute to the research.
- Provide administrative and logistical support.
- Regularly report all field related activities and issues.
- Address inquiries from stakeholders via telephone and e-mail.
- Assist in drafting technical notes, letters, reports, and other materials.
- Support in preparing and executing other program activities as needed and requested by the Project Manager
Operations Support:
- Organize external events and meetings, including the preparation and processing of payments for participants' transportation and per diem allowances.
- Assist in preparing all databases and processing payments for consultants, participants, and beneficiaries in coordination with the HR and Finance departments.
- Remain flexible to take on additional responsibilities to support project objectives.
Knowledge/Expertise/Skills Required:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
