Junior Social Worker (Disaster Response Project)

Mission of the position:

Under the Disaster response project, the social workers work closely with the ER Project Manager, MHPSS facilitators in order to make sure the needs of families are properly assessed and met, providing thorough assessment, intervention and follow-up throughout the various phases of the project.

Main responsibilities:

  • Conduct field and families' home visit.
  • Data collection and follow-up with Participants (complaints and needs).
  • Build capacity through providing awareness sessions and trainings.
  • Monitor assistance and participants' selection.
  • Report to the ER Project Manager.

Child Safeguarding (CS)

  • Responsible to raise awareness of the SOS Child Protection Policy principles and to prevent and protect children/young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
  • Ensures strong focus on CS prevention by organising informal and formal discussions, workshops and other capacity buildings activities for young people to make them understand  CS risks and protection mechanisms 
  • Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager
