UNICEF Lebanon Humanitarian Situation Report No. 07 - 12 November 2024

Highlights

  • Children in Lebanon have been gravely affected by the hostilities. More than 200 children have reportedly been killed, and commonly reported wounds among children include limb loss, concussions, traumatic brain injuries, shrapnel wounds, and hearing loss caused by explosions. Anxiety, flashbacks, and nightmares are also recurrent. UNICEF continues to call for a ceasefire to protect children.
  • Following the restart of the new school year in public schools for Lebanese children, more than 202,000 students have already been registered and nearly 350 public schools reopened for in-person learning. The Ministry of Education has scheduled the registration for non-Lebanese students to start on 18 November 2024.
  • In the reporting period, UNICEF supported 683 collective shelters hosting 119,494 IDPs with relief items and critical services, including over 300 shelters with an integrated package of child-centred services, such as clean water, sanitation, learning, health, nutrition, psychosocial support, child protection, and youth engagement.
