Main purpose
- Digital Content and Editorial Manager is part of the MSF’s Lebanon Branch office Communications’ department. He/she is reporting to the Director of Communications.
- You would play a leading role in managing the brand, overseeing the production of content, coordinating content across all channels, and ensuring that it follows MSF’s strategic communications objectives.
- In close collaboration with the Director of Communications, you would lead the development and implementation of the organization’s brand, content, and digital strategies.
- You would manage and support a team of a Multi-media Producer and a Digital Officer through building their capacity to produce and disseminate quality content. You will also coordinate closely with the Translation/Editing Unit to ensure their contribution to content production. You would also ensure that the team supports operational communications teams by ensuring products adhere to brand guidelines and by providing and editorial support, audio-visual materials, digital and graphic design services.
- You would operate collaboratively across multiple departments and teams within MSF Lebanon including the field recruitment and the Middle East Medical Unit teams, to ensure quality and strategic alignment of cross-departmental communications initiatives. You would also serve as a focal point for discussions on content management and strategy across the MENA region’s platforms in collaboration with the Communications Hubs in Amman/Jordan and Dubai/UAE.
Accountabilities
Content & digital strategies
- You would develop and lead on the brand and content strategy for MSF Lebanon website, social media channels, publications, and campaigns.
- You would work closely with the Director of Communications to ensure brand and content initiatives are developed in line with annual plans, strategic objectives, regional and international developments.
- You would manage the forward planning of the content calendar and lead weekly/monthly editorial and content ideation meetings, ensuring that relevant people in the communications’ team, across departments, and key collaborators are aware and engaged.
- You would develop and lead the MSF Lebanon digital strategy, including marketing strategies according to the target markets and specific audiences, follow up on its implementation.
- You would ensure that the content and digital strategies are updated to follow the new trends to ensure strong engagement of the priority audiences.
- In collaboration with the Digital Officer, you would produce regular analysis of the performance of content and digital channels and propose recommendations to increase reach and engagement.
Content creation and design
- You would coordinate and boost the development of new content ideas and digital storytelling for use across MSF Lebanon and MENA digital channels, identifying relevant themes, messages, and stories.
- You would be responsible, in collaboration with Multimedia Producer, and Digital Officer to improve digital content quality, design and production and ensure that the content is adapted for different digital channels, audiences and objectives (comms, advocacy, HR).
- You would ensure, together with the editors, digital officer and multimedia producer, that communications products and messages delivered across digital channels reflect MSF style and brand guidelines, and best practice writing for the channel-for example, optimized for SEO.
Team management:
- You would manage a team comprised of a multimedia producer and a digital officer. This includes setting objectives, follow-up on performance and building the capacity of the team.
- You would manage the content production process and ensure that roles and responsibilities are clear among team members involved. You would ensure that the workflow is smooth, with all team members contributing effectively to the content production and dissemination cycle.
Website management:
You would review the design and web development strategy and content to ensure functional technical aspects of the website are maintained and content is updated constantly.
In collaboration with the Digital Officer:
- You would ensure that the website is protected by enabling the appropriate security and backup measures in collaboration with technical experts.
- You would ensure website quality and efficiency by conducting regular tests
- You would improve the User Experience of the website regularly, based on recent web standards and guided by user activity reports.
- You would create strategies to grow subscriber base and web traffic metrics.
- You would identify and respond to website security breaches (advice to better security audits and practices, lead on consultations with 3rd parties to ensure backup and security of platforms and data).
- You would manage the web hosting, and any related issues related to the server, domain name, database.
- You would ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations including GDPR.
Branding
- Brand Development: You would collaborate with all staff and management to ensure that MSF visibility products, social media channels and website align with brand strategy and meets the organization’s standards.
- You would maintain the integrity of the MSF brand through ensuring consistent branding, style, and voice on all digital channels.
- You would contribute to MSF branding activities at regional and global level through initiating and supporting relevant content production and digital initiatives & projects.
- You would discuss and contribute to international MSF content and digital strategies and the sharing of best practice through participation in meetings and visiting/collaborating with relevant MSF offices.
Other Duties
- You would support field operations through the production of high-quality communications as requested, including field visits.
- You would work closely with the international recruitment team and medical department to coordinate the content production activities responding to their needs.
- Contribute towards Strategic and Annual plan exercise for the department of communications, including supporting the Dir Comms on Budget Management
- Gap filling for team and line manager as and when needed
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, multimedia, digital, audio-visual technologies or equivalent.
Languages
Fluent in English and Arabic, French is an asset (both spoken and written)
Experience
5 years of professional experience in content production or digital communications.
2-3 years of Experience of team management is an asset.
Requirements
- Good knowledge and understanding of the humanitarian sector
- Solid understanding of the context and the communications environment in Lebanon and the Middle East.
- Knowledge and understanding of good practice in content design, including user research
- Experience of commissioning, creating, editing, and publishing digital content across key digital channels – including websites, social media
- Exceptional and proven communication skills, both written and verbal
- Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and ways to improve the impact of content.
- Ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fast-paced environment.
