Water and Sanitation Officer

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Programme Director of the "Healthy Solutions: supporting specialized secondary health care and accessible WASH services for vulnerable disabled children, pregnant and Lactating Women, and Their Communities"  project, the water and sanitation Officer will be responsible for the provisional and monitoring of all water and sanitation related activities including rehabilitations, and provisions of in-kind support.

Job Description :

  • Monitor the quantity of water delivered on a full target approach
  • Provide regular reports summarizing the quantities delivered per each HH
  • Monitor the quantity of waster water disludged on a full target approach
  • Provide regular reports summarizing the quantities disluged per each HH
  • Mobilize refugees to take responsibility for construction of water, sanitation and bathing facilities in order to promote ownership
  • Identify most vulnerable families who will require support to construct/install sanitation and bathing facilities and arrange for other refugees to support them
  • Link between refugee community and project activities
  • Monitor progress and quality of construction activities at site level , surfacing any issues and examples of good practice through regular reports to 
  • Assist in profiling of skilled trade-persons and report status to the team leader
  • Provide technical input in the general supervision, progress of construction activities and control of quality of materials and workmanship
  • Inspect on daily basis construction activities at each site to ensure adherence to agreed standards and processes
  • Participate in the project planning , implementation plan and review meetings and activities
  •  Monitor the delivery, handling and utilization of materials at site
  •  Produce weekly/daily progress reports on the construction activities, contract status and beneficiary participation as required
  • Conduct assessments and gather data/information as required
  • post-distribution monitoring. 
  • Prepare regular reports of activities, field expenditures, and WASH conditions for monitoring and report on these to the WASH project manager.
  • Help in setting up criteria for selecting beneficiaries 
  • Monitor quality of refugee drinking water and ensure safe sanitation
  • Assist Field Officer (Hygiene Promotion) to assess effectiveness of the intervention
  •  Work with other Field Officers to trace sources of disease or contaminations in order to prevent further outbreaks
  •  Monitor water trucking and desludging services on-site

Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering or science (min. BA);
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is a must
  • Excellent computer skills, ability to do research and data collection.
