Project:
The primary aim of the project is to support children's education, helping them catch up on missed learning objectives during the academic year. Given the challenging circumstances they face, these activities are essential for securing their future.
Assignment:
The Social worker is based in Amel’s community center in Kamed el Loz. She/He works under the direct supervision of the Head of the Center, the management team based in the headquarters, and the Field Officer of the project. She/He is in charge of the overall response to the psychosocial needs of the most vulnerable refugee populations living in the informal tented settlements of West Bekaa.
Tasks:
Task #1 – Outreach & Retention activities
Outreach beneficiaries for the projects’ activities. The Social worker has direct communication with the families and explains in detail the goals, activities, and requirements for their participation in the project;
Follow up on the beneficiaries’ participation in the projects’ activities. If a beneficiary is absent for more than two consecutive sessions, the Social Worker is following up directly with the parents/adults;
Encourage the retention support of the beneficiaries in the activities while addressing the reasons for dropping out with a clear and adapted action plan. The social worker builds a collective response to increase attendance with all the project’s team members;
Share the children’s achievements with their parents to increase motivation and build trustful relationships with the community members.
Task #2– Cases identification activities
Establish a simple internal referral form for all team members in collaboration with the psychologist, clarify the process with all team members, and follow up on the implementation of the internal referral pathways;
Observe regularly the project’s activities to identify cases.
Identify through focus group discussions the protection needs of the community members.
Task #3– Referral activities
Ensure smooth follow-up for internal referrals
Follow up on cases referred internally by the team members and to other services provided by Amel;
Provide the team members with necessary information about the case’s follow-up to adapt their practices if necessary.
Ensure smooth external referral pathways
Develop AMEL’s network in the area to increase opportunities for external referrals with the support of the Field Officer;
Assist the Field Officer to create a local mapping of the service providers in the area;
Ensure a smooth referral process with external actors (provision of information, follow-up with beneficiaries, etc.).
Task #4 – Coordination & Monitoring and Evaluation
Facilitate the internal coordination
Roam and Learn team’s level: coordinate with all team members to ensure that the Child Protection Protocol is followed and that the PSS monthly plan is shared and completed;
Centers’ level: coordinate with centers’ staff (Health, Protection, etc.) to refer cases / to improve internal practices (experience sharing)
Monitoring & Evaluation/reporting
Contribute to the data collection in close collaboration with the Field Officer;
Submit weekly reports to Field Officer & coordinators;
Design assessment for evaluating to the project’s impact (ex: well-being) in coordination with the Child Protection team;
Submit other narrative reports such as Focus Group Discussion results / community events reports / distribution reports, etc.
working hours:
The Social Worker will work 5 days a week an average of 40 weekly working hours (to be defined according to the Schedule of Activities).
