PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION

 

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

 

General objective:

 

  • Ensure a qualitative technical standard for all activities implemented.
  • Guarantee the quality of all activities and propose necessary adjustments or improvements.
  • Ensure that WASH and shelter rehabilitation activities are implemented effectively and monitored closely.
  • Identify relevant needs for shelter and WASH rehabilitation activities.
  • Prepare the necessary paperwork for rehabilitation and ensure thorough monitoring of activities.

 

The main challenges:

 

  • Coordination with multiple stakeholders
  • Managing High-Quality Standards and timely implementation in a fast-paced environment
  • Cultural sensitivity and community engagement
  • Managing Technical Challenges in Shelter and WASH Rehabilitation

 

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

 

  • Initiate all WASH and shelter rehabilitation in and outside collectives shelters respecting MEHE recommendation.
  • Keep a strong communication with focal point in each shelter rehabilitated, and the relevant actors.
  • Evaluate and assess rehabilitation needs to ensure they align with project requirements, while maintaining oversight of the budget.
  • Strive for cost efficiency in the rehabilitation process.
  • Monitor the implementation of each rehabilitation to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Establish key contacts to identify gaps and needs.
  • Serve as the focal point in SI for construction technical support.

Reporting/Communication

  • Regularly report activities and progress to the WASH, Infrastructure & Shelter Program Manager.
  • Maintain and update relevant formats and databases related to rehabilitation and construction activities.
  • Report any issues or challenges encountered in the field promptly.

PROFILE NEEDED

Studies : Bachelor degree in Civil or mechanical engineering or equivalent

Experience : 1 to 2 years experience in the same field

Language : Fluent in English and Arabic

IT : Proficiency with the standard MS Office package compulsory (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Qualification: Good Knowledge in WASH, infrastructure and shelter activities.
 

 

SI WILL OFFER YOU

A salaried post :  1615 USD as basic salary

Vacation : 1.75 paid leave per month
