Media and Communications Officer

Key Responsibilities

1. Content Creation

• Develop engaging written, visual, and video content to highlight GASCF’s mission, programs, and impact.

• Write and edit press releases, blog posts, newsletters, and social media updates.

• Capture and edit photos and videos from field activities or events for promotional purposes.

 

2. Social Media Management

• Create and manage content calendars for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).

• Monitor and grow GASCF’s online presence by engaging with followers and responding to comments/messages.

• Use analytics tools to track social media performance and optimize campaigns.

 

3. Media Relations

• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and media outlets.

• Write and distribute press releases and pitch stories to relevant media contacts.

• Organize press conferences or media visits to project sites when necessary.

4. Branding and Public Relations

• Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications materials.

• Develop brochures, flyers, and other print/digital materials for fundraising and awareness campaigns.

• Represent GASCF at external events, conferences, or media appearances.

5. Website Management

• Regularly update GASCF’s website with fresh content, including articles, event updates, and success stories.

• Work with web developers and manage basic website maintenance.

6. Donor Communication

• Create reports, presentations, and donor newsletters to communicate project updates and achievements.

• Develop campaign materials for fundraising initiatives.

7. Monitoring and Evaluation

• Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication campaigns using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and surveys.

• Prepare monthly or quarterly reports summarizing media and outreach activities.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

• Experience in social media management, content creation, or public relations (even internships).

• Proficiency in tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or similar design/video editing software.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Photography and videography skills.

• Basic knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is advantageous.

• Passion for social causes and alignment with GASCF’s mission.

 

Soft Skills

• Creativity and storytelling ability.

• Time management and ability to meet tight deadlines.

• Adaptability in working on multiple projects in a small team.

• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members, donors, and media.
