Background:
Cedar Centre for Legal Studies is a civil, non-profit centre established in Lebanon in 2013, registered under No. 609. Cedar Centre is dedicated to promoting democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.

Our work is organized into thematic units, each focusing on specific areas of legal studies through in-depth research, education, and advocacy:
1. Human Rights, Social Justice, and Legal Empowerment Unit.
2. Mediation, Arbitration, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Unit.
3. Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) and Rehabilitation for Victims of Torture Unit.
4. Comparative Legal Systems and Global Governance Unit.
CCLS regularly follows up on numerous cases of enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention and torture in Lebanon in coordination with Lebanese and international organizations, and with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention WGAD and the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.
CCLS currently has an office near Al Nour Square, Tripoli, Lebanon and is looking to open a new office in Tripoli.
CCLS is aiming to enhance sustainable access to rehabilitation services and justice for Victims of Torture and their relatives in the North of Lebanon.
Duties and Responsibilities:

The General Practitioner will play a key role in providing medical care and coordinating rehabilitation services. The GP will report directly to the Centre Coordinator and ensure that healthcare services are delivered efficiently and in line with CCLS policies.

Key duties include:

    -Conducting medical consultations and providing primary healthcare services to victims of torture and their families.
    -Assessing patients' medical needs and referring them to specialists when necessary.
    -Collaborating with mental health professionals and other staff to develop comprehensive rehabilitation plans.
    -Monitoring and evaluating patients’ progress to ensure effective treatment outcomes.
    -Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
    -Providing input into the development of healthcare protocols and guidelines for the center.
    -Participating in capacity-building activities and training programs for staff.

Qualifications:

    -A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a licensed General Practitioner.
    - Experience in trauma care, rehabilitation, or working with vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
    - Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    - Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with non-medical staff.
    - Organizational and time management skills.
    - Fluency in Arabic (proficiency in English is required; French is an asset).

Education:

    A degree in Medicine (MD or equivalent) from a recognized university.
    Valid medical license to practice in Lebanon.

Location:

The General Practitioner will be based in CCLS’s new office, Tripoli, Lebanon.
