General Overview:

The Social Worker aims to maximize the development of human potential and the fulfillment of human needs, through an equal commitment to Working with and enabling people to achieve the best possible levels of personal and social well-being and working to achieve social justice through social development and social change. In this project, the Social Worker will work in close coordination with the field coordinator, psychotherapist, outreach team, and municipalities in organizing and facilitating various activities aimed at enhancing the psychosocial well-being of older persons at risk. This includes establishing older people's groups, conducting awareness-raising meetings, providing life skills training, and ensuring access to healthcare services. The role will also involve extensive documentation and reporting. The Social worker is expected to establish a good rapport with older people, have good communication skills, and do service mapping in addition to activities. Moreover, the Social Worker will submit reports about all activities done; success stories and challenges faced, and will be asked to attend related trainings and meetings.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Abide by target assigned in project’s log frame with at least 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

1.1. If fieldwork (the plan of the day) was done before working hours were complete, working in the office on transferring collected data from Kobo is to be completed.

1.2. Works 4 day's on-site (fieldwork) and 1 day as office work per week.

1.3. Responsible for one’s own transportation from and to the site (field or office)

1.4. A daily plan should be prepared a day prior and ready to put into action for every working day

  1. Psycho-Social Support Activities:
    1. Provide center-based, focused, non-specialized psychosocial support activities for older persons at risk.
    2. Establish older people's groups in coordination with the local community in target locations, with a targeted representation of women and persons with disabilities.
    3. Conduct bi-monthly meetings of older people's groups at the Municipality with relevant stakeholders to raise awareness on older persons' concerns.
    4. Provide life skills training for older people group members based on the special curriculum set.
    5. Facilitate training for older people group members on healthy aging, home and community care for older people at risk, and assistance in accessing primary healthcare services, with thorough documentation of tracking data.
    6. Facilitate training on psychological first aid for older people group members.
    7. The social worker should be the focal point for communication with the municipalities.
    8. Abide with the curriculum set by the consultant
    9. Conduct monthly inventory check up with relevant documentation
    10. Contribute to the provision procurement process, by preparing needed materials prior to the sessions/ trainings.
  2. Documentation, Data, Targets, and Reporting:
    1. Fill in Kobo social worker forms
    2. Maintain accurate records by filling in Social Worker lists in line with the project’s requirements.
    3. Work in accordance with the project's log frame and targets, ensuring objectives are met.
    4. Attend weekly meetings and provide comprehensive reports on project status, including numbers served, challenges, and success stories.
    5. Provide feedback and report on individuals referred to services outside our project.
    6. Responsible for daily reporting to the field and project coordinator with daily tasks.
    7. Write a narrative report elaborating on the numbers, tasks, and activities conducted mid and throughout the year.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master is degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in social work, especially in working with older persons or vulnerable populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of older individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in data collection and reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
