ACE Project: Private Sector Volunteer to “Support Project Operation”

  1. Recruitment context

The GIZ ACE project is looking for a volunteer to support the project operation in Beirut. The volunteer will ensure support in the day-to-day project implementation of ACE for the period of March to May 2025.

The GIZ ACE project Strengthening Agriculture, Local Communities and Small and Medium Enterprises (ACE) aims to strengthen economic stabilization and improve social cohesion through targeted measures to promote cooperation and exchange in selected communities in Lebanon.

The volunteer will work under the orientation of experienced ACE project Advisors, to whom they shall report directly. The volunteer ensures a culture of communication and cooperation, contributing actively to the operations of the project.

The volunteer will receive an action plan and regular feedback organized and implemented by the responsible project officer.

  1. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Knowledge:

Formal education:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, International Marketing, Economics or related fields.
  • Basic knowledge and familiarization with the concept of Entrepreneurship and Business Development support for Start-ups and MSMEs.

 

Competencies and Experience:

  • Previous work/volunteer experience
  • Previous experience in participating and organizing workshops, meetings or conferences
  • Previous experience in communicating with different stakeholders of a project
  • Previous work/volunteer experience with INGOs or NGOs is a plus
  • Knowledge or work experience in the field of economic development is a plus
  • Good working knowledge of ICT and Microsoft 365
  • Ability to produce reports, presentations and communication materials
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Sound understanding of international cooperation
  • Ability to think and work independently and work precisely with attention to detail

 

  1. The volunteer will support in the following:

Assist ACE project officers in Beirut in the daily operational tasks, including:

  • Prepare and participate in partner visits in the project’s regions of implementation (Beqaa, Shouf, South Baalback, and Hasbaya)
  • Assist in communication with partners regarding technical implementation
  • Assist in drafting documents such as minutes of meetings, Terms of references or agendas
  • Assist in scheduling and planning workshops and 1on1 mentoring sessions for our beneficiaries
  • Support in follow up activities with our beneficiaries

Assist ACE project officers in Beirut in the Monitoring and Evaluation tasks, including:

  • Support in the internal knowledge management
  • Draft quarterly reports on projects implementation
  • Assist in communication with implementation partners regarding reporting

Assist ACE project officers in Beirut in communication tasks, including:

  • Support organising and implementing conferences, workshops, and other events
  • Assist in drafting, designing, proofreading and editing internal and external communication materials (e.g., press releases, publications, PowerPoint Presentations, social media posts, factsheets, etc.)

Perform other tasks assigned by project officers according to operational demands of the project

Duration: 3 months (March - May 2025) with option to extend up to 6 months (June - August 2025)

Project Description: The situation in Lebanon is characterised by a structural economic and financial crisis and by the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic and the explosion in the port of Beirut in August 2020. The focus of the new Transitional Development Assistance project is to strengthen the socio-economic resilience of vulnerable groups in Bekaa and Mount Lebanon. This is done along three fields of action (1) strengthening agriculture, (2) promoting MSMEs and start-ups, and (3) promoting social cohesion at the local level
