Clinical Psychologist

The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for training the JRS Lebanon Migrant Centre staff in Psychological First Aid, recognizing symptoms, and providing support to individuals in distress. Furthermore, they initiate and supervise case referrals to external experts. Less complex cases will be handled by the Clinical Psychologist in JRS field offices or in migrants’ homes. Additionally, the Clinical Psychologist regularly debriefs the Social Workers. Finally, the Clinical Psychologist will collaborate with migrant community leaders to develop mental-health awareness and training programs for leaders to help strengthen the resilience and self-protection capacities of migrant communities.   

Main Responsibilities of the Position

1-Training of JRS Staff:

  •  Conducts sessions on Psychological First Aid (PFA) and recognizes symptoms that may indicate psychological or psychiatric conditions.
  •  Leads sessions on how to support individuals experiencing distress and trauma.
  •  Facilitates sessions on self-care practices and stress management techniques.
  • Organizes bimonthly meetings for social workers and provides ongoing support.
  • Develops Psychosocial Support (PSS) programs that address the evolving needs of JRS.

2-Staff Care:

  • Provides regular debriefing and coaching for social workers in the Migrant Centre at their workplaces.
  • Offers counseling to staff.
  • Collaborates with external experts.
  • Plans and facilitates joint workshops with external experts for JRS staff.

3-Counselling of Beneficiaries:

  • Counsels individual cases in the JRS Migrant Centre.
  • Identifies and assesses individual cases for referral.
  • Follows up on any referred case.

4-Training of Community Leaders:

  • Collaborates with migrant community leaders to understand their needs for PFA, self-care, stress awareness training and other mental-health related capacity-building programs.
  • Develops and conducts relevant capacity-building programs for migrant community leaders.

5-Administration:

  • Keeps proper patient files.
  • Writes condensed reports of the activities done and the cases treated.
  • Submits monthly, half-year and annual reports.

Qualifications, Skills, and Personal Attributes

  • Permission to practice the profession.
  • Minimum of 2 professional years of experience in the field
  • Proven managerial experience.
  • Background in GBV/Protection and communities of refugees or displaced people is an asset.
  • Knowledge of English and Arabic both written and spoken is required.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
