The Coordinator and Social Worker in the Informal Education Program will be responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of an informal educational program while providing social work support to participants. This hybrid role combines organizational and administrative responsibilities with direct social services to ensure the program runs smoothly and meets the needs of the students, families, and the community it serves. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, proactive, and resourceful individual with experience in both program coordination and social work, particularly in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination:
- Program Planning and Implementation: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of informal education programs to ensure they align with organizational goals and community needs.
- Scheduling and Logistics: Check the coordination of the scheduling of classes, events, and other program activities. Ensure that resources, materials, and spaces are prepared in advance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure effective collaboration and to foster a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track program outcomes and prepare regular reports on program performance, participant engagement, and any challenges encountered. Make recommendations for improvements based on findings.
- Budget and Resource Management: Assist in managing the program resources, ensuring efficient allocation and usage of materials.
Social Work Duties:
- Individual and Group Support: Provide direct social work services to participants, addressing emotional, behavioral, and social needs. This includes one-on-one counseling, group support, crisis intervention, and referrals to community services.
- Family Engagement: Build strong relationships with families, supporting their engagement with the program and addressing any concerns or needs that may arise regarding their child’s participation in the program.
- Case Management: Develop and monitor individual service plans for students who require social work intervention. Follow up on progress and ensure that students have access to necessary community resources and support.
- Advocacy: Act as an advocate for students and families in need, working to remove barriers to participation in the education program, and linking them to services such as housing, food, healthcare, or mental health support.
- Crisis Management: Respond to crises involving students or families, providing immediate support, de-escalation, and resources, as well as coordinating with other professionals or community organizations as necessary.
