The Media and Communication Officer position supports the National Mental Health Programme at the Ministry of Public Health across multiple projects. Some projects are implemented by the Lebanese Center for Civic Education (LCCE), while others are led by the Institute for Development, Research, Advocacy, and Applied Care (IDRAAC). All projects are carried out in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and funded by the World Bank.
Responsibilities
The Media and Communication Officer is required to:
- Create engaging infographics, videos, and multimedia content for digital campaigns, website content, and social media platforms.
- Develop visually compelling designs for publications, reports, newsletters, press releases, brochures, print materials, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Ensure all designs align with the NMHP’s branding guidelines and communication strategy.
- Monitor online engagement, analyze insights, and adjust content accordingly.
- Design and implement awareness campaigns to promote mental health, combat stigma, and inform the public.
- Provide communication and media support for public events and workshops.
- Implement and update the NMHP’s communication SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Support in the management of the programme’s communication platforms, including the webpage and social media pages.
- Create and maintain a library of photographs and videos of the programme’s events & activities and other materials for communication issued by the programme part of the project.
- Provide input on any IEC (Information, Education, Communication) materials developed by the programme.
- Support in other activities related to the Programme in coordination with the operations manager (in relation to raising awareness, media relations, social media use, events, campaigns, etc.).
Minimum qualifications and professional experience:
- University Degree: Master’s degree in Media and Communication or Marketing (preferably digital) or any related discipline(s),
- Experience: 5 years of relevant job experience.
- Skills:
- Basic skills in multimedia software applications.
- Strong creative and technical writing, editing, proofreading skills.
- Excellent spoken and written skills in English and Arabic. Knowledge of other languages/dialects is an asset.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Good experience in social media; related to content development and platform management including community management, etc.
- Proven experience in graphic design, multimedia production, and visual communication.
- Experience in developing communication materials that are tailored to various communication channels.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Lebanon’s social and political context.
- Knowledge of public health or mental health topics is desirable.
- Experience in working with NGOs, government, or public health organizations is desirable.
- Digital Literacy
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, illustrator, Indesign or other design softwares
- Basic knowledge of cloud-based collaboration (OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of social communication platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.)
- Basic technology literacy
