Child Protection Officer - North

The Opportunity

The Child Protection Officer will be in charge of the daily follow up of the Child Protection activities, provide support to implementing partners and lead the direct implementation in the field. The Child Protection programme includes the establishment and expansion of psychosocial programming with children and youth, capacity building and support for caregivers and coordinate with the community stakeholders and local authorities to implement community initiatives addressing CP issues. The Child Protection Officer should ensure that all aspects of work are undertaken in accordance with Save the Children’s Policies.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Master degree in Social Work, psychology or other related studiesor bachelor degree with at least 4 years of professional experience in the field of Child Protection;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.

Essential

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the Child Protection field;
  • At least one year of experience working with international NGOs;
  • Experience in PsychoSocial Support programming, community mobilisation and coordination with local authorities in North Lebanon and Akkar;
  • Ability to write weekly and monthly reports;
  • Strong knowledge of the humanitarian context on North Lebanon and Akkar.

Desirable

  • Experience in team leading and handling programmes action plans;
  • Commitment  to and  understanding  of Save  the  Children’s aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches.
