Retention Support Educator

 

The The retention support educator is responsible for delivering quality education for girls, focusing on academic support, English language learning, Math, Science, Physics, and/or Chemistry. The role includes monitoring student progress, engaging families, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure student retention and success. The instructor must be capable of effectively delivering instruction in at least two of the subjects specified in their contract ( English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Sciences), ensuring comprehensive subject coverage and quality education for students.

Key Responsibilities

1. Educational Support & Lesson Delivery

Deliver academic support classes (9months), 3 days/week, 3 hours/day) to help students improve performance in core subjects.

Provide targeted support in English,  Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and , or Sciences, ensuring students grasp key concepts through interactive and problem-solving approaches.

Prepare engaging lesson plans and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.

Ensure a safe, inclusive, and interactive learning environment for students.

2. Student Monitoring & Progress Evaluation

Track student attendance and participation, reporting absences of more than 3 days to the social worker.

Conduct pre- and post-assessments to measure academic progress and adapt teaching strategies.

Provide individualized support to students at risk of dropping out.

 

3. Family & Community Engagement

Communicate with the community mobilizer to ensure awareness initiatives are effective.

4. Collaboration with Schools & Stakeholders

Coordinate with social workers for student referrals and support.

Maintain updated records on students and contribute to monthly progress reports.

5. Classroom & Child Protection Standards

Implement ASACode of Conduct, Child Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Procedures.

Maintain a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.

Use positive discipline practices to encourage student engagement.

Prepare lesson plans for the summer cycle at least two weeks before implementation. Additionally, design the structure of retention sessions during the scholastic year. If students do not have homework or quizzes, the educator should provide extra lessons based on their awareness of students' gaps in the curriculum or offer supplementary lessons that enhance their competencies.

6. Documentation & Reporting

Take daily photos of classroom activities and upload them to the association’s drive with appropriate details (title, date, instructor name).In accordance with Abnaa Saida Association's policy, instructors are prohibited from taking photos of girls in the center unless prior approval is obtained from their parents.

Submit monthly reports detailing class progress, student cases, dropouts, intervention strategies, lesson learned, success stories, challenges and risks,& consequences Mitigation plans and measure. 

Performs all the tasks assigned within the scope of his/her job.

 Participates actively in developing and creating remedial/education materials by providing feedback, participating in focus group discussions, or any other request by the Learning Development Coordinator (LDC); 

 Encourages the girls’ cooperation and self-learning (peer-to-peer, tutoring, etc.)

Working Hours

3 hours/day, 3 days/week + additional hours for preparation, meetings, and events.

Please note: The salary is based on a workload of 3 hours per day, 3 days per week. Any additional hours required for preparation, meetings, or events are covered within this salary and do not constitute extra compensation

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field. Preferably, the degree should be relevant to the subject the educator is applying to teach

A teaching diploma is a plus.

3-5years of teaching experience, preferably with vulnerable populations.

Fluency in Arabic and English.

Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.

Experience with child protection and psychosocial support is an advantage.

Instructors  should possess strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and a solid understanding of life skills to support students' academic and personal development
