Art and Art Events Consultants and Experts

Project Overview: Under the project "Improving Food Security, Livelihoods, and Inclusion of Women and Vulnerable Groups, and Promoting Gender Equality in North Lebanon," funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ) through RET Germany and implemented by GATE Lebanon.

We are seeking Consultant/s, (one or more; or even group of consultants applying together), to support (boys and girls) and women or women groups in Akkar in assessing youth’s hobbies, upgrade their employability skills in art works towards securing income, and in designing and managing the implementation of events to feature the beneficiary’s work.

Project Locations: Akkar

Contract Type and Duration: Frame agreement until the mission is completed (expected for 2 years, or more).

Target Groups: FOUR categories of target groups will be targeted (to be priced separately):

  1. Individual youth, mainly women. To participate in arts workshops and events that will be implemented in various regions in Akkar. The estimated number is around 100.
  2. Individual youth, mainly women, who show skills that require further development towards becoming an entrepreneur in artwork to be equipped with employability skills and knowledge, including business concept, marketing, PR, preparing and participating in exhibitions, pricing, social media featuring, and other related courses to prepare the youth to become an entrepreneur artist. The estimated number is around 15.
  3. Assess and evaluate around 4 to 5 women NGOs or groups, and their employees in order to design and implement one or more training programs in the field of art.
  4. Participate in designing, managing and implementing arts events, exhibitions, and festivals during international days, as decided by GATE Lebanon.

Scope of Work: The project serves vulnerable beneficiaries (individuals and groups), primarily women, handicapped, and refugees, aiming to enhance their art skills and upgrade their entrepreneurship towards economic empowerment. The consultant(s) will provide targeted business coaching, training, and mentorship to the target group. Based on needs assessments and initial screening of the beneficiaries or groups.

We anticipate the scope of work of the consultant could be as follows:

  • Assess the beneficiary or groups/COOPs capacities, to do the placement at the individual level. Then, to split beneficiaries into various arts workshops.
  • Asses need, design, and implement a training plan for the 4 categories.
  • Prepare the training plan for youth under category 2 on: market driven employment possibilities.
  • Social media & Marketing: Digital marketing strategies, PR, exhibitions requirements, and online sales optimization; only for the selected individuals who will be selected under category 2 (mentioned above under the target group).
  • Product Development & Value Creation: Enhancing product quality and competitiveness for category 2 and 3.
  • One-on-One Coaching: Tailored mentorship sessions to refine business strategies and address operational challenges for category 2 and 3.
  • Additional Topics: Identified based on SME needs during coaching.

(The intervention could be in one or more topics and subjects from the above list)

Responsibilities & Deliverables of the consultant:

  1. Assessment & Planning for the youth to attend the vocational training sessions in various art courses.
  • Design and implement digital screening of the beneficiaries’ skills and knowledge to be able to assess beneficiaries' levels and needs.
  1. Training & Coaching Implementation:
  • Provide structured training courses and practical coaching sessions in drawing, painting, sculpting, mural art, mosaic art, wool loam art works, art quilt, etc.
  • Conduct one-on-one coaching or group sessions for individuals and groups.
  • Align with GATE Lebanon on scheduling and session delivery models, timing, locations, number of beneficiaries, ages, gender, and other factors
  1. Reporting & Monitoring:
  • Submit sessions and progress reports.
  • Deliver an initial assessment report for every category.
  • Provide a final report summarizing impact, supported individuals or groups, and future recommendations.

Consultant Profile:

  • Certified business consultant with at least 7 years of academic and practical proven experience in similar work.
  • Experience in working with vulnerable populations, NGOs, donors, including women, disabled persons, displaced people and refugees, is a plus.
  • Consultants with present or past experience in the target region and target groups are preferable
  • Ability to provide customized, practical training (not full academic curricula).

Logistics & Compensation:

  • The consultant must be available to travel to selected training locations within Akkar.
  • Training sessions should accommodate practical learning, with efforts to hold two sessions per day to optimize costs.
  • The consultant should provide the estimated number of beneficiaries per session.
  • Payments will be made in Euro currency, based on progress, with no advance payments provided.

  • A cover letter detailing relevant experience.
  • A financial proposal in Euros detailing the cost per day for the events (category 1, 3 and 4), and per person for the vocational training and fast track learning by doing (category 2) the cost must include all costs, including insurance, taxes and other costs that the consultant will need to cover.
