Job Responsibilities:
- Plan lessons that focus on basic literacy (reading, writing, speaking) and numeracy (basic math skills)
- Use a variety of teaching methods (visual aids, games, activities, technology) to engage students and cater to different learning styles.
- Provide clear, step-by-step instructions to help students grasp key concepts.
- Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to give them more personalized attention.
- Offer catch-up lessons for students who are significantly behind in literacy or numeracy.
- Regularly monitor and record students' progress in literacy and numeracy.
- Use assessments, quizzes, or projects to track improvement.
- Adjust teaching methods and lesson plans based on individual student progress and provide ongoing feedback to students on their performance.
- Use creative and interactive teaching techniques to keep students engaged.
- Motivate students to take an active role in their learning and build confidence in their abilities.
- Set SMART objectives to motivate students and celebrate their progress.
- Work with students who may have additional learning challenges, offering extra support or adaptations to the lesson.
- Collaborate with special education teachers or other staff to develop strategies for supporting students with specific needs.
- Work closely with other teachers to ensure that literacy and numeracy lessons align with the broader curriculum.
- Share information about student progress with parents and school administrators.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to stay updated on teaching strategies.
- Offer advice and resources to parents to support learning at home and address any concerns parents may have regarding their child's learning and development.
- supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment, ensuring the classroom is clean and orderly
- Provide extra sessions for students who need more intensive support.
Qualifications, Skills, and Personal Attributes
- Bachelor's degree in education.
- State teaching license/certification is preferable.
- Strong knowledge of all subjects’ matter.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and the ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
