ECE Teacher

In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on child protection, especially in the most deprived areas of Akkar, by providing education support, extra-curricular activities, and psychosocial interventions.

Areas of Responsibility:

General objective of the job

ECE Teachers are required to lead classrooms guiding their students and helping them understand academic information. They prepare the curriculum, create required worksheets, and guide their students through interactive lessons, using different teaching styles to reinforce essential information. The teachers supervise the classes throughout the lessons and using techniques to correct unfocused behaviour without distracting other students. They need to build trust with the students as a way to manage their behaviour and encourage engaged participation in the coursework.

Job Responsibility:

The ECE teacher will:

  • Attend all AND trainings and capacity-building sessions.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality education, referrals, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare lessons’ plans, related worksheets and tools for monitoring students’ performance
  • Review/ amend lessons’ plans based on students' support needs.
  • Track student attendance and follow up closely with the education officer on children who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out.
  • Identify and refer child protection and child safeguarding cases and threats in accordance with AND policies and mechanisms.
  • Maintain a record of all referral and follow-up actions taken
  • Collect data on students' academic levels.
  • Ensure all project data records, including registration and attendance sheets, are submitted to the education officer.
  • Track students' progress and levels based on assessments.
  • Provide individualized support to students as needed.
  • Ensure that classrooms are safe, secure, stimulating, and inclusive to meet the needs of all children, including children with disabilities.
  • Respect and commit to AND’s internal policies and procedures, including child safeguarding, and code of conduct.
Personal Competencies:
  • Spoken and written fluency in Arabic and/or other languages as required.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Capacity to work in team and flexibility to take on new tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Early childhood Education, Education or Elementary Education or LT in Early childhood Education, Education or Elementary Education.
  • At least two years’ experience in teaching early years.

Reporting

The ECE teachers shall report to the Education Officer.

Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the code of conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
