Duration: One-year contract

Remuneration: According to EuroMed Rights salary scale – between 1200-1500 USD

EuroMed Rights is looking to recruit a Support Officer for the Middle East Unit. The position would be a one-year contract starting in May 2025 and based at the EuroMed Rights’ office in Lebanon.

 

About EuroMed Rights 

EuroMed Rights was founded in January 1997 in response to the Barcelona Declaration of November 1995 and the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EMP). It is the coordinating body of about 68 human rights organisations and institutions as well as individuals from over 30 countries. EuroMed Rights’ organisational structure is built on a general assembly, an executive committee, working groups and a secretariat.  

Rooted in civil society the Network seeks to develop and strengthen partnerships between NGOs in the EuroMed region, i.e. networking aimed at strengthening the capacity of members to act and interact within the context of the region and the Barcelona process and other EU-Arab cooperation frameworks.

Description of Tasks 

The Support Officer will assist with the implementation of EuroMed Rights' country programs in the Middle East, with a current focus on Turkey and Syria under the supervision of the Head of Middle East Unit. The position is part of growing programs that may expand to countries such as Lebanon. The Support Officer works closely with programmes coordinators, other support officers and relevant departments to ensure smooth logistical, administrative and financial support.

 

Key Responsibilities

Logistics and Coordination :

  • Assist in orgnising meetings, workshops, advocacy missions, and trainings
  • Handle logistics such as sending invitations, booking travel and accommodation, and preparing activity documents.
  • Support notetaking and drafting of meeting minutes or short reports

 

Administrative and Financial  Support:

  • Help prepare procurement document and collect quotations from service providers
  • Ensure proper filing and follow-up of office and programme documents
  • Coordinate with local partners on logistical and financial matters
  • Assist in the preparation of financial documents linked to programme activities

Project and Grant Assistance:

  • Provide support in compiling donor reports and collecting supporting documents.
  • Help gather data for project evaluation and monitoring. 
  • Assist in drafting narrative inputs for donor proposals or internal reports

Communication and Advocacy Support:

  • Monitor local and international news and highlights relevant updates.
  • Assist in drafting short content (e.g tweets or updates) in coordination with the communication team.
  • Help ensure consistency in visual materials and branding.
  • Support the organisation of advocacy-related events and missions when required.

Networking and Solidarity:

  • Assist in maintaining regular contact with EuroMed Rights' members and partners in the region
  • Support activities related to the protection of human rights defenders.
  • Participate in meetings or events as needed and provide logistical support.

 

Profile and Requirements

Essential

  •  A bachelor's degree in international relations, law, human rights, development studies, or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in NGO or civil society work.
  •  Experience in organizing and supporting project implementation.
  •  Fluency in English and Arabic (written, spoken).  

Assets

  • Knowledge of the political and civil society context in the Middle East
  • Familiarity with donor procedures and procurement process.
  • Knowledge of Turkish and/or French is an asset.
  • Understanding of EU institutions and their policies toward the region.
