Objectives of the Training

Recognizing the vital role of home-based care in delivering essential personalized support, ensuring high-quality and compassionate service is paramount. This necessitates equipping caregivers with a robust foundation of knowledge and practical skills. This 5-day training program is specifically designed to bridge this gap by offering comprehensive instruction on the key aspects of effective home-based care.

The overall objective of this 5-day training is to equip participants with the fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide effective and compassionate home-based care.

Specific objectives include:

  • To enhance participants' understanding of the principles and ethics of home-based care.
  • To develop participants' practical skills in providing personal care, mobility support, and basic health monitoring.
  • To educate participants on maintaining a safe and hygienic home environment for the care recipient.
  • To improve participants' communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with care recipients and their families.
  • To provide participants with knowledge on recognizing and responding to common health issues and emergencies in a home setting.
  • To introduce participants to the importance of self-care for caregivers to prevent burnout.

 

3. Scope of Services

The selected trainer will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing a comprehensive 5-day home-based care training curriculum and materials on the stated objectives, and adapting them as necessary to the specific context and needs of the participants.
  • Developing a detailed 5-day training schedule, including session plans, timings, and methodologies.
  • Delivering the 5-day training program to 20 participants, utilizing participatory and interactive training methods suitable for adult learners.
  • Creating a positive and conducive learning environment that encourages participation and knowledge sharing.
  • Facilitating discussions, practical exercises, role-playing, and potentially demonstrations related to home-based care tasks.
  • Assessing participants' learning and understanding throughout the training through appropriate methods (e.g., Q&A, practical demonstrations, short quizzes).
  • Providing constructive feedback to participants to support their learning and skill development.
  • Collecting participant feedback on the training content and delivery.
  • Submitting a comprehensive training report upon completion of the training.

 

4. Key Deliverables

The trainer is expected to deliver the following:

  • A finalized 5-day home-based care training curriculum and detailed session plans.
  • Comprehensive training materials for participants (e.g., handouts, presentations, relevant resources).
  • A pre- and post-training assessment tool (if applicable).
  • A 5-day in-person training delivery for the target participants.
  • A training completion report summarizing the training conducted, participants' attendance and performance, feedback received, challenges encountered, and recommendations for future training.

 

5. Trainer Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate for this training assignment should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience (minimum of 2 years) in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in the healthcare or community development sectors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in home-based care principles and practices.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of adult learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a supportive and interactive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and participatory training methodologies.
  • Experience in developing training materials and curricula.
  • Degree in nursing, social work, public health, education, or a related field.
  • Certification in home-based care, experience working with specific beneficiary groups.

 

6. Timeline and Level of Effort

  • The training will be delivered over a period of five (5) days.
  • The tentative dates for the training will start in May 2025. The final dates will be confirmed in coordination with the selected trainer.

 

7. Reporting Requirements

The trainer will report to the social worker and the program manager. The trainer is expected to maintain regular communication with the social worker throughout the assignment.

A comprehensive training report, including the elements mentioned in Section 4, should be submitted within 10 days after the completion of the training.

 

8. Budget

The trainer will be reimbursed with a total of 600 USD for each group course.

 

9. Application Process

10. Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience (as outlined in Section 5).
  • Quality of the technical proposal and proposed training methodology.

11. Safeguarding

The trainer is required to adhere to the organization's safeguarding policies and potentially undergo a background check.

 

 12. Confidentiality

The trainer is expected to maintain confidentiality of all information accessed during the assignment.
