JOB PURPOSE
The social worker will provide confidential case management and psychosocial support, as well as referrals to other service providers as needed. The social worker will work individuals from vulnerable communities affected by war that include but are not limited to, people with disabilities, survivals of GBV , elderlies , people with protection concerns and survivals of armed clashes . The social worker is usually the first point of contact for those in need and responsible to conduct Vulnerability need assessment either in person or remotely as per context status and localities .
POSITION PURPOSE
The social worker reports to the “Project Manager”. The primary function of the social worker is to ensure the quality implementation of MPCA and MHPSS components of the disaster response project. The SW will manage high-risk cases with technical assistance from Management at SOS. In addition, the SW is responsible for developing/strengthening relationships with other service providers working with the key targeted populations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess beneficiary’s needs identified during daily activities and make appropriate referrals for services.
Identify cases in need of an urgent Cash assistance response and conduct needed Vulnerability risk assessment forms to provide MPCA in line with cash assistance taskforce guidelines and SOPs.
Directly follow-up affected beneficiaries to service providers when needed to ensure access to services.
Create weekly work plans and prioritization tasks.
Ensure targets are met according to donor’s requirements
Ensure safe and secure storage of any beneficiaries related data
Coordinate with other project staff and colleagues to facilitate referrals following the referral pathway.
Update the service mapping on all services related to the key population
Handle case assignments, draft action plans, review case progress and determine case closure
Help beneficiaries achieve wellness and autonomy
Facilitate multiple care aspects (case coordination, information sharing, etc…)
Help beneficiaries make informed decisions by acting as their advocate regarding their status and protection options
Develop effective professional relations and cooperate with other service providers introducing SOS services and project activities.
Follow up with beneficiaries to keep track of their progress and to ensure satisfaction
Record cases information, complete all necessary forms accurately and produce statistical reports
Promote quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes
Assess and address motivational and psychosocial issues
Adhere to SOS policies, rules, and regulations
Develop MHPSS sessions for beneficiaries upon request
Any other tasks that may be assigned by management
SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
Degree in social work
Knowledge of Protection: CP and GBV prevention and response
Knowledge of case management principles
Strong case management experience based on survivor-centered approach
Experience working with key populations or vulnerable communities is a must
Having a car and valid driving license is a must
Child Safeguarding (CS)
- Responsible to raise awareness of the SOS Child Protection Policy principles and to prevent and protect children and young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
- Ensures strong focus on CS prevention by organising informal and formal discussions, workshopcs and other capacity buildings activities for children and young people to make them understand the CS risks and proection mechanisms
- Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager
