Call for Local Partnership – EU-Funded Peacebuilding Project in West Beqaa

WHO WE ARE

Overview

Thread of Peace, commonly known as House of Peace started to form as a local initiative in 2012 but was officially registered in 2019. The organization was formed by a group of young people who were together searching for meaning and for a sense of belonging during a time of change. Their diverse backgrounds and common purpose made them a valuable team, giving humanitarian assistance to displaced people, hoping that the message of hope would spread through their diversity to contribute to building a better future. The “family” formed gradually grew and its mission persisted despite the fact that many of its founders have moved on. The “House of Peace” thrived as a virtual house holding an ever-expanding family with a humanitarian mission of promoting peace in society and advocating for conflict sensitivity.

Our Vision

We envision a diverse community living together in peace.

Our Mission

Threads of Peace, commonly known as House of Peace, is a local non-governmental organization established in 2015 in Lebanon. We are a team with diverse backgrounds and expertise, sharing similar values. We exist to support social peace, mainstream conflict sensitivity, and promote the well-being of different communities, civil society actors, the private sector, and the public sector.

Our Core Values

We as a team and individually are guided by the values of non-violence, participation, diversity, the promotion of a supportive environment, accountability, and development. Our understanding of each of these core values is outlined below.

  • Non-violence: We strive to avoid harm and promote peace, seeking alternatives to violence.
  • Participation: We believe in the right of every individual to have the opportunity to actively engage in decision-making processes, activities, and issues that affect their lives and communities.
  • Diversity: We recognize and appreciate the wide range of human differences, including differences in race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, abilities, and perspectives.
  • A supportive environment: We believe in creating and fostering conditions that promote the well-being, growth, and success of individuals, groups, and communities. We emphasize the importance of providing emotional, social, and practical support to enable individuals to reach their full potential and thrive.
  • Accountability: We take responsibility for our actions and decisions, are transparent, and accept the consequences of all our actions. We value integrity, trust, and ethical behavior in personal, organizational, and societal contexts.
  • Development: We strongly believe in the continuous improvement and progress of individuals and communities. We are keen on pursuing positive change and growth in various aspects of life.

The 3-year initiative supports diverse community groups (youth, women, men — with and without disabilities, refugees, migrants, and host communities) through capacity-building workshops in social peace, conflict sensitivity, and dialogue. These workshops will lead to the implementation of community-led peacebuilding initiatives using tools such as art, agriculture, education, sports, and environmental action.

We are looking for local organizations to:
- Support outreach and identification of target communities
- Assist in organizing peacebuilding workshops
- Mobilize volunteers and participants
- Strengthen local peacebuilding networks

Selected partners will receive:
- Visibility on Threads of Peace platforms and materials
- Free conflict sensitivity training for your staff

Eligibility: Local NGOs or initiatives based in Zahle or West Bekaa working in community engagement, peacebuilding, or inclusion.
