Psychiatrist

SKOUN is a Lebanese, non-profit, non-governmental organization and one of the first outpatient facilities that provide accessible treatment, education, and protection for all people who use drugs while maintaining its values regarding inclusion, accessibility, integrity, and dignity.

For 20 years, SKOUN has been caring for the most vulnerable populations in Lebanon and strives to ensure drug use and addiction are treated as primary health issues.

SKOUN aims to support the development of a community-based substance use and mental health system in line with the National Mental Health Strategy and model of care, tackling gender barriers in service access and gender biases in service provision through offering quality and gender-sensitive services to women, men, boys, girls, and gender non-conforming individuals living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk.

Summary:

The psychiatrist will provide a comprehensive assessment and treatment to patients with Substance Use and Addictive Disorders- 8 hours per month 

Additionally, the psychiatrist will participate in the multi disciplinary team (MDT) clinical meetings.

Scope of Work

• Build a therapeutic relationship with patients to ensure confidentiality, trust, and openness
• Follow up on patients’ treatment, evaluating the response to medication and the possible side effects and modify the treatment accordingly
• Facilitate and follow up on the hospitalization of the patient, when needed.
• Participate in clinical meetings and case discussion meetings with the multidisciplinary team of the center to ensure proper follow up of the patient.
• Attend regular meetings, working sessions and trainings organized by the project’s partners when appropriate
• Coordinate with nurses on clinical-related matters and prescriptions
• Review and evaluate treatment progress and outcomes with Therapists
• Discuss with the clinical team the discharge plan if and when needed
• Enrollment, Clinical management and follow up patients enrolled in the OST program

DELIVERABLES

• Provide psychiatric care to patients with Substance Use and Addictive Disorders in Beirut center
• Be responsible to maintain clear and updated data collection and submit the monthly reports to Skoun’s technical advisor and Skoun’s Clinical Coordinator
• Conduct a comprehensive assessment and discuss an appropriate treatment plan accordingly with the patient

Criteria of selection / Minimum qualifications and professional experience:

• Diploma in Psychiatry - Diploma in Addiction is a plus
• Fluent in English and Arabic; French is a plus
• About 2-4 years of related experience, of which up to 2 years should be in a similar position/responsibility, preferably in a similar industry

Time Commitment: 6 Months renewable depending on funding and performance.
