Job Purpose
International Alert is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Officer to support our team in project, specifically related to social stability, gender equality and psychosocial support in Lebanon. The role involves coordinating project activities, coordinating with local partners, and providing technical expertise to ensure the effective delivery of project outcomes. The Project Officer will work closely with the senior management team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to Alert’s values, including conflict sensitivity, safeguarding, and gender mainstreaming.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Coordination and Implementation
- Support the implementation of project activities under our project Enhancing CSOs’ ability to foster social stability in Hasbaya and Southern Baalbeck.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of detailed action plans.
- Coordinate with local organizations to deliver peacebuilding and social stability activities in line with project objectives.
- Represent International Alert in stakeholder meetings and community events, as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of project activities and meetings.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with local authorities, stakeholders, and partners.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Collaborate with the MEL team to design and implement monitoring tools.
- Collect and analyze project data, providing insights to inform decision-making and strategy development.
- Contribute to project evaluations and ensure findings are disseminated internally and externally.
Strategic Contribution
- Support the development of Alert’s strategy on gender, and peacebuilding in Lebanon.
- Use evidence and lessons learned from previous projects to inform program development.
- Contribute to organizational policies and the integration of gender and safeguarding practices.
Travel Requirements
This position is based in Beirut with regular travel to project locations in Hasbaya and Southern Baalbeck.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor degree in, political social sciences, Gender Studies, Education, Psychology, or related fields.
- At least 2 years of experience in project coordination, with expertise in gender, MHPSS, and social stability.
- Strong knowledge of the Lebanese context, particularly the root causes of conflict.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively within diverse teams.
Desirable Requirements
- Knowledge and experience in the peacebuilding sector.
- Experience with dialogue and practical conflict management methodologies.
- Familiarity with program cycle management and reporting tools.
- Commitment to International Alert’s mission, values, and safeguarding principles.
Summary Terms and Conditions
- Monthly Salary: Competitive, based on the salary scale for Lebanese nationals.
- Benefits: Private medical insurance and NSSF.
- Leave Entitlement: 25 working days per year plus statutory holidays.
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility for core hours (10:00 am – 4:00 pm).
