About Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP)
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works in partnership with Palestinian communities to uphold their rights to health and dignity. We do this by developing effective, sustainable and locally-led healthcare services, providing medical aid during emergencies, and campaigning to break down the barriers to Palestinian health and healthcare today and for the future.

Promote and/or provide services that specifically address the MHPSS needs of children within the communities we work with.
Improve access to and quality of MHPSS services, within the framework of the four-level MHPSS intervention pyramid recommended in the Inter Agency Standing Committee Guidelines
Task List
- Frequent travel to various Palestinian camps in Lebanon
- Provide overall technical supervision and guidance to MAP’s Partners’ field staff in the provision of developmentally informed MHPSS/SGBV, case management and Child Protection services.
- Ensure that services are delivered adhering to best practices, do no harm guiding principles, confidentiality, safety, respect, and non-discrimination, including safeguarding and other relevant policies and guidelines.
- Advise and suggest to MAP management the required technical support interventions across services.
- Conduct scheduled onsite technical supervision and coaching support visits to the MHPSS project’s locations in the Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings; and prepare relevant reports documenting key observations and recommendations.
- Conduct individual and group onsite meetings with field staff, arrange central meetings with MHPSS specialists working in Child Friendly Spaces (CFS’s) and Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WSS’s) in Palestinian refugees’ camps and gatherings located in regions across Lebanon as needed.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review cases, bottlenecks and offer recommendations, and brainstorm durable solutions for challenging cases.
- Assist in harmonization of case documentation and forms used where applicable.
- Write M&E reports and visit checklists and assist with partner’s staff familiarization with visit checklists and other developed templates.
- Contribute to meetings and consultations, focus group discussion with beneficiaries and community members, Child protection networks and sector working groups, partners, UNRWA focal persons, and with other relevant stakeholders. as assigned by the MHPSS Programme manager where relevant.
- Contributes to the identification of partners’ capacity development needs.
- Deliver onsite coaching and capacity building activities for field staff on case by case needs based and as proposed by the consultant.
- Assist in delivering onsite staff care support for partners front line staff as suggested need and as proposed by the consultant.
- Provide support work during emergency situations
- Provide capacity building workshop to address relevant staff identified needs and in agreement with MAP.
Methodology
The field visits will be conducted in various durations, part of, or full working day
An average of 6 to 8 field visits or full days per month with possibility of additional visits.
The consultant is responsible for arranging own transport means.
Key stakeholders
Internal: Lebanon Director, MHPSS Programme Manager and programme officers, Finance Officer
External: MAP’s partner organisations, local and international NGOs, Interagency Child protection and SGBV working groups.
Expertise needed
- A post-graduate degree (master’s or higher) in the field of mental health and psychosocial support MHPSS.
- Experience under supervision and underwent relevant training and any other continuing professional development is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience child focused MHPSS.
- Experience working in the Palestinian refugee camps.
- Experience in the development and delivery of staff training is required. Carrying out staff support initiatives is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with community-based humanitarian aid and development interventions. Strong expertise in Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence systems and procedures, and MHPSS modules are strong asset.
- Good knowledge of best practices, do no harm and guiding principles, including safeguarding and other relevant policies and gridlines is an asset
- Significant knowledge with good understanding of context of Palestinian, and the Palestinian refugee camps across Lebanon camps in Lebanon, and understanding of the current political, social, economic, cultural, and historical context of Lebanon and refugees’ crisis is an asset.
- Familiarity with UN Agencies, International NGOs, donors’ administrative procedures and systems is highly desirable.
- Previous experience of emergency response is highly desirable.
- The ability to work during emergency situations is highly desirable.
Reporting to
MAP MHPSS Programme Manager
Fees
200$ Per visit of full day equivalent to 8 hours per day inclusive of arranging own transport means. No other benefits.
Monthly workplans will be agreed with the line manager.
Safeguarding
Medical Aid for Palestinians MAP has a zero tolerance with regard to Safeguarding including Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is the responsibility of everyone, and all selected candidates will undergo background checks against PSEA and will be required to always comply with MAP safeguarding policy, PSEA and Code of Conduct.
