Inclusion Officer

Main Purpose of the position:

The Inclusion Officer promotes inclusive policies, practices and culture in targeted Educational and Child Protection settings and in the community, recognizing that inclusion in education is one aspect of inclusion in society. S/he will be committed to helping individual children with difficulties and disabilities overcome any barrier to learning and participating and to promoting the early recognition of signs of difficulties and additional needs; s/he will coach and inspire teachers, educators, CP facilitators/Animators and other professionals to identify and deploy team resources in effective and creative ways.

The Inclusion Officer is expected to dedicate the majority of  her/his time on the field *within the Palestinian camps in Lebanon* in close contact with partners’ staff and beneficiaries, to better identify emerging issues and conduct follow up actions accordingly.

Objective 1: Contributes to the development of a positive inclusive ethos in the centers targeted by the project and in the community, raising awareness on inclusion in line with the methodologies and vision of the project

  • Contribute to Social Behavior Change activities targeting awareness on disability inclusion
  • Support the capacity development of TDH IT frontliners, staff and partners’ staff to be able to raise awareness on disability inclusion
  • Contribute to initiatives in community, centers and partners’ centers raising awareness on disability inclusion

Objective 2: Support frontliners to map, reach, identify and engage Children and People with disabilities in the EDU and CP activities.

  • Provide guidance to frontliners in mapping, reaching, and identifying children and people with disabilities.
  • Observe Child Protection (CP) and Education (EDU) activities to identify children with disabilities, monitor their progress, and ensure the provision of necessary support, accommodations, and adaptations.
  • Plan activities or supports measures that are specific to each child’s abilities, supports finding solution to remove barriers to learning and participation in CP and EDU activities;
  • Coordinate with the education team to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities.
  • Monitor the progress of children with additional needs and collaborate with facilitators and caregivers, fostering strong parent-facilitator partnerships.
  • Makes recommendations on the pathway for children with difficulties/disabilities after completion of the given activities.

Objective 3: Contribute to the capacity building TDH IT and Partners’ staff on disability inclusion

  • Build the capacity of TDH IT and partners’ frontliners on disability inclusion
  • Provide coaching and follow up to TDH IT and partners’ EDU frontliners on inclusive education, early identification of signs of difficulties and differentiation signs.
  • Train staff on designing appropriate accommodations and adaptations to aid children’s skill development and meet the needs of children with disabilities in CP and EDU activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of all trainings, training tools and resources, and of all publications to be produced as part of the project activities.

Objective 4:  Oversee the implementation of a targeted intervention for CWD and PWD

  • Provide technical input on referral pathways and assess service needs for CWD and PWD.
  • Liaise with Outreach Workers, frontliners, area coordinators, and partners to identify available service providers in the community.
  • Liaise with TDH IT staff and partners 'staff, as well as other NGOs, to update on a regular basis the service mapping for the NGOs, CBOs and dispensaries providing specialized services for CWD and PWD.
  • Coordinate with service providers to follow up on the engagement of the children in the service provided
  • Follow up on the progress and development of the children in therapy services through constant coordination with the therapists.
  • Provide support and guidance to the family and ensures their engagement in the best interest of their children.

Objective 5:  Report, Capitalization & Communication

  • Support the M&E Department through data collection and regular update of information concerning project beneficiaries, with emphasis on those with specific challenges/vulnerabilities, support granted to them and progress and developments recorded;
  • Ensure the correct reporting on disabilities/additional needs in BTF System, RIMS, Child Level Monitoring Tool, narrative reports and any other relevant platform.
  • Provide support to TDH IT staff and partners’ staff to ensure correct reporting on IMS system on disability inclusion and referrals.
  • Contributes to the development of success stories for communication use
  • Contributes to the development of activity reports and donor reports

Knowledge and Competencies:

Knowledge:

Fluent in Arabic and good English skills (speaking and writing)

Driving License;

Knowledge of models of learning and principles of effective teaching.

Competencies:

Office Package, Competencies and a solid commitment towards promoting inclusion and the principle of development.

Soft skills:

Organizational Skills, Result Driven, Team Work, Accountability, Flexibility, Proactiveness, Good communication skills and ability to interact with different stakeholders, Capacity to build a consensus, Leadership and capacity to promote the implementation of a shared vision.
