Health Care Coach

LOST is seeking a compassionate and experienced Health Care Coach to train and mentor program beneficiaries—often youth, women, or underserved individuals—preparing them for roles in basic healthcare support, caregiving, or health-related services. This role focuses on providing practical training, building confidence, and enhancing job readiness for entry-level positions such as nursing aides, home caregivers, community health workers, or hospital assistants.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver practical and theory-based training in areas such as basic nursing care, personal hygiene, patient handling, first aid, and elder care
  • Teach proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), infection control, and safety procedures
  • Coach beneficiaries in soft skills including empathy, communication, professionalism, and patient interaction
  • Demonstrate use of basic healthcare tools and assistive devices (e.g., thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, wheelchairs)
  • Conduct regular assessments, hands-on evaluations, and provide constructive feedback
  • Guide participants in ethical and respectful caregiving practices, especially when working with vulnerable patients
  • Adapt training approaches for beneficiaries with diverse educational backgrounds and learning needs
  • Support placement efforts by preparing participants for interviews, job trials, and real-world healthcare environments
  • Maintain training records, progress reports, and attendance sheets
  • Coordinate with local health facilities or care centers for practical exposure or internships
 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare, nursing, caregiving, or community health services
  • Prior experience in training or coaching, especially in low-resource or grassroots settings, is preferred
  • Good understanding of basic medical care, hygiene, patient safety, and elder/child care practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and guide beneficiaries
  • Fluency in the local language(s); basic English is a plus
  • Diploma or certificate in Nursing, General Duty Assistant (GDA), Home Health Aide, or a similar healthcare qualification
  • Familiarity with national healthcare programs or training schemes (e.g., PMKVY, NSDC, TESDA) is an asset

 

Preferred Competencies:

  • Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity
  • Conflict resolution and emotional intelligence
  • Practical, hands-on training style
  • Experience working with NGOs, women’s groups, or youth development programs
 

Working Conditions:

  • On-site at training centers, health clinics, or community halls
  • May involve local travel for field visits, home care demos, or health awareness sessions
  • Flexible hours depending on program schedules and beneficiary availability

All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
