HIGHLIGHTS
- The number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Haiti reached an all-time high, with nearly 1.3 million displaced as of 10 June, according to IOM’s latest Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM). This represents a 24% increase since December 2024, mainly due to escalating violence in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, as well as in the Centre and Artibonite departments. This is the highest number of people ever displaced due to violence in the country, exerting immense pressure on hosting communities, basic services, and humanitarian actors
- As of 30 June, the 2025 Humanitarian Response Plan remains severely underfunded, with only 8% of the $908 million requested received (OCHA FTS). This underfunding is limiting the scale and reach of critical humanitarian operations. Despite
- these constraints, humanitarian partners remain committed to supporting the most vulnerable populations.
- The onset of the hurricane season adds pressure to an already fragile humanitarian context marked by access and security challenges. Despite efforts to preposition supplies and adjust logistical capacities, humanitarian stock levels are at their lowest in recent years. On 18 June, the Humanitarian Country Team issued an alert highlighting the critical lack of resources to respond in the event of a cyclone. The risk of a major storm is above the 30-year average, with 6 to 8 major hurricanes expected during the 2025 season, according to Colorado State University.
- Armed groups intensified attacks in the West department, including in Cité Soleil, Croix-des-Bouquets, and Carrefour-Feuilles. In Artibonite, attacks in La Chapelle displaced more than 9,300 people in La Chapelle, Verrettes, and Petite-Rivière. Violence also continued in the Centre department, forcing over 51,000 people to flee Mirebalais since March. Despite insecurity, humanitarian actors maintain field presence and operations to meet urgent needs.
